Ooookay. Wierd issue on Tumblr...

All photos, no matter when they were taken, are rotated once to the right in Tumblr. Uploaded to Photobucket or uploaded directly from Edmonton [my laptop] the same thing happens. I tricked it once yesterday by rotating to compensate in Photobucket, uploading to Tumblr, then fixing it on Photobucket again. That only worked once. Now any image ( Read more... )

This only happens to me with my cell phone pictures that I email myself, like when they are on my phone it matches the orientation in which I took them (portrait or landscape) but if i email them to myself to use i always have to edit them because the pictures always appear in portrait mode, regardless the position the phone was in when I took them.

Do you have any sort of editing software? You might just have to fix the orientation manually. Do you use a mac or a pc? The picture viewer in either OS should be able to edit the orientation of photos at the very least, I know when I had a pc (years ago, win xp) that the picture quality would degrade when I changed the orientation but it is a quick fix.

When you upload directly to photobucket why did you have to upload it to tumblr and then back to photobucket?

I think I did a poor job describing the issue. I don't even have a camera on my phone, so that can't be factor. I do have editing software and I use it (more than I ought, really). The problem is not on my machine, it only happens when any image is uploaded to Tumblr. I can view them on my computer, I can upload to Photobucket and use them elsewhere via that hosting (with the acception of Tumblr). I am currently sidestepping by saving my images rotated to compensate on my actual computer.
As for uploading to Tumblr, from Photobucket, the reason I mention that is because the only images that aren't affected by Tumbler's sudden rotation are images already hosted on PB -before- last Saturday.

Do you take your photos with the camera rotated? Does it do it with a photo you take with the camera level? There is a thing in the camera that talks to certain photo editing programs to auto rotate photos. Sometimes it causes weird issues when those photos are uploaded to the internet.

That's all I've got.

Nope, it does it to landscapes and portraits alike. Since it only affects Tumblr, I've kind of given up. I just rotate left, save, upload photo to Tumblr, fix original, save again.
