This is less directly connected to tzedakah and more to a general theme of "helping others" - but maybe they could help you make food to bring to someone who is sick/who just had a new baby/etc in your community?

TBB partipates in JFCS's Family Table, a food pantry - I don't know if Temple Israel does - but a few times a year they ask each group that partipates to sign up volunteers to actually drop off the food. Which might be a good concrete activity.

I am focusing on food because while gljiva also takes great pleasure in putting money in places (like a tzedakah box or a collection basket), she doesn't *quite* have the money concept down yet. (I put *my* money in! is a frequent refrain. Nevermind that the money came out of her mom or Dad's wallet a moment ago.) Food is more concrete.

We've inserted a caching step into the money path; each kid now has their own money box in their room; money goes from us to there, and from there, they take it for tzedakah.
