Slaughterhouse Meetings

Jul 30, 2009 22:52

WHO: Nik, Avery
WHAT: Nik shows up to the Slaughterhouse to see a familiar jacket only to be joined by Avery and get interesting news

The Slaughterhouse is one of those places that can be hit or miss at current there is just music being chosen by patrons and played through the speakers. The place is actually busy as it is a summer evening. Women and men (really barely legals) are pressed against one another offering to love the other one forever or until the backseat of the car. Sadie is off to the side, watching the painting wall wantonly, with an orange drink in front of her. She swings her legs every now and again, but seems to be content to watch for now. Oh there is one more tiny itty bitty thing of notice. She has on a man's leather jacket that is a bit too large for her.

The loud, thrumming music masks Nik's approach, the dark interior of the club making his dark clothes merely a blot against the occasionally gleaming lights. Sadie doesn't even sense his approach until he's not far behind her. "Little warm for a jacket, isn't it?" he asks her, his voice low behind her ear, but well heard despite the loud music. He tenses slightly as he speaks, preparing for anything... knowing she liked to hit. He's not dressed to impress, as if more there for business than enjoyment, and his breath is clean of alcohol.

Sadie is sitting there, minding her own business, and underage drinking. Then there comes a voice behind her and she gives a sharp squeak as the Walker kin jumps a bit on her seat. The good thing is that she doesn't hit him. The bad thing? Well the fact that she jumped and is now falling off her seat and backwards into him. Her shoulders are rotating while she flails around to try and grab her balance, useless as it will be.

Nik is, of course, ready for the incoming. It was a surprise, however, that it was all of her and not just her fist. She doesn't fall far before her back hits his chest, and his arms come into view as he keeps her from falling farther. One hand holds a can of orange spraypaint, which he brings up in front of her. "Wanna draw?" He asks, near her ear. Hopefully by now she'd recognize his voice, if not the crisscross of scars on his arms as he holds her.

Avery walks past the bouncer and in to the club.

Avery has arrived.

Sadie leans back a bit more against his chest as she looks up at him. Her golden hair falling over his shoulder by the motion. An almost angelic smile curves her lips. "Hi." Then her attention is pulled by the orange spray paint can. Bright blue eyes sparkle as she claps her hands. "You know the way straight to my heart. I'd love to do it."

Nik lets her sit up, handing her the spraypaint. He takes her drink in his other hand. "Draw away," he suggests, hanging onto the orange glass and giving it a cursory sniff. The dancing people around him hold no interest for the Garou, and he watches what she'll do with interest.

Sadie beams and actually leans forwards to attempt to press a kiss to Nik's left cheek before she hops away. The drink will smell mainly of vodka with the decorative smell of oranges that name it a screwdriver. Sadie stands before the wall thoughtfully for a few moments. Her head tips to the right and then to the left and then back again. Finally, she starts to spray lines upon the wall.

Nik finds a nearby railing to lean against, crossing his arms over his chest, beverage dangling by its rim from his fingers. He gets a few interested glances from a few of the loner women prowling the club, but he doesn't notice. He merely watches, a very light sheen of sweat on his brow from the crush of people and their combined warmth, on top of the weather's added heat.

Sadie begins drawing some various lines and curves in a rather artistic manner. She ends up making a biohazard symbol the size of her head on the wall. Sadie gives a man next to her the sweetest of smiles and ends up borrowing his black to outline it. She giggles and thanks the guy before skipping, literally, back over to Nik. Her eyes shining warmly. "You should put something on the wall, even if it is just a word. You can put something that matters to you there." She offers what is left of the spray can to the man as she rolls up to the balls of her feet. Her right hand is outstretched to wipe at the man's brow. "You need to get some air, Cowboy?"

From the entrance, a young man walks in. He sets a hiking stick down near the front where some others have hats and jackets. Murmured conversation occurs, the showing of ID, and a bracelet on his wrist then. A couple of people look at the young man and flinch slightly, while a couple of girls look for a longer moment before looking away. Grey eyes sweep through the unfamiliar chaos as Avery lurks around the edge of the room for the moment.

Nik isn't sweating much, but it's enough to make him look uncomfortable. "Eventually," he admits. "I'll be leaving soon." He considers as she hands him the spraycan, giving it a shake as he hands her drink back to her. Stepping away from the railing, he gives a look at her biohazard symbol before raising the can to the wall. No picture emerges... just the statement "Beware of Dog". Beneath it he puts an image of the moon in it's current halved state.

Sadie is sadly not overly perceptive, so she doesn't see Avery enter in the crowd of people. She does lean against the railing that Nik was just at to watch him. Her eyes stray down the back of his jeans before her cheeks color and she jerks her head upright. Sadie focuses on his statement and her lips quirk just a bit.

Avery looks around the club, and blinks as he catches sight of a familiar person doing bright orange graffiti. He smiles and politely goes through the people with relative ease, as more people than not move out of the Philodox's way instinctively. When he's closer, he calls out to the girl, "Evening, Sadie." His voice is a resonant baritone, not the clear tenor it was before.

Nik turns slightly to catch sight of a longing onlooker, tossing the can to the young man so that he might partake in the wall as well before stepping down. He rests a hand on the railing, looking slightly strained. "You come here to stare at walls?" He asks her, leaning heavily on the railing. He also doesn't see Avery at first, but then again wouldn't recognize him due to a lack of a previous meeting. He looks up as he calls to Sadie, though doesn't move from his position.

Sadie shifts her posture to attempt to lean into Nik's side a bit. "Well yes. I mean this wall, the one they are drawing on." She arches her brows at the strained look. "You okay, Nik?" Concern moves through her voice before Avery calls to her. At his approach and her name she smiles warmly. "Heya.. are you supposed to be here?" She hasn't heard of his Rite yet.

Avery nods, "I can now, yes. A lot's happened since I saw you last." He smiles and loks to Nik, giving a nod, "And good evening to you as well, Nik? My name's Avery." He extends his right hand in greeting.

Nik hadn't answered Sadie's question, but offers his hand in greeting to Avery. "Avery," he nods. "Friend of Sadie's?" He asks, not recognizing the boy. His hand is strong and dry despite the light sheen on his brow.

Sadie smiles towards the greeting. "Avery is family of mine sorta. Well actually, he's more like your cousin than mine." She seems content to stay beside Nik for now. "He's also more like you than me." She does bounce on the balls of her feet a few times though. "I'm happy you .. graduated."

Avery lifts his eyebrows at Sadie's introduction. "Ah. So am I. Almost didn't...the final exam was...crippling. But I got over it." He looks curiously to Nik then, "A cousin? Does Kenneth know you're in town? If not, I can let him know." Certainly he's polite.

Nik reappraises Avery with stormy green eyes, when Sadie introduces him a little more fully. "I see," he says. "I'm not from around here, Avery. I'm here on business. But I hope to run into Kenneth soon and finally be able to meet him officially. I think he knows I'm prowling the place." He glances about, looking with distast at the people closing in, once Sadie mentions the Rite.

Sadie smiles vibrantly to the boys with her. "Well at least you passed and that is all that is important right?" She snuggles right into that jacket she's wearing, marking it with her scent for all times. "Oh... right." She looks between the two and offers. "Maybe we should go somewhere else to talk?"

Avery nods, "Maybe so. Talking good, and I can come back here afterwards..." He taps the half-moon and chuckles a bit, "Unlike the tides, I'm pulled strongest by this. Do you know a place we can go, Sadie?"

Sadie glances about the area as Avery starts talking about the tides and she steps a bit closer to Nik. "Well we could go out somewhere else, if all goes to all, we can swing by my place." That's right women, she's trying to liberate two of the men from the club. "I /might/ be able to get in the green room as I've been back there before, but that's iffy."

Avery ahs, "Well, up to you. I haven't been in town in four months, so I don't know what's what anymore." He smiles, grey eyes flashing as he looks to Nik, "What do you say? Find a place we can hear ourselves think?"

Nik twitches slightly, his usual devious grin not present tonight. He doesn't back away when Sadie leans closer, however. "I can get you into the back rooms if you like," he assures them. "But I am not staying here another minute. I just came to double check that I got all of Ivan's stuff. I don't do well... around a lot of... people," he emphasises the last word.

Sadie looks up at Nik to that before she smiles with a bit of understanding. "Hey.. you still owe me dinner for dinner, remember?" She's also not volunteering up the leather coat that she's wearing. Her eyes stay on the visiting Garou before falling back towards Avery. "I painted, I can bail."

Avery grins, "So then. Outside or in back? I don't care which, but let's go now."

Nik doesn't seem to be interested in getting his jacket back at this time, but he does level his gaze onto Sadie for the first solid moment since they'd run into eachother. "Is that the favor you're pulling? Be sure," he cautions, his lips tugging into a faint smirk. "Come on. If you guys want into the back, let's go. I'm parked back there anyway." He strides off like a bulldozer through the people.

Sadie quirks her smile back. "No, I was sort of hoping you'd just want to feed me. It might be a pricey investment though. I think I'll hold the favor." She squeaks as Nik starts to powerhouse through, following him as he does. She's also, sadly, bopping along to the pop music playing. Luckily, she's not singing. Her eyes move towards Avery to make sure he's following.

Avery does indeed follow along, and even for being in the wake of Nik, he still has clearer sailing, though two of the girls are glaring murder at the Walker-kin.

Nik reaches the back door of the club, but it doesn't seem to be locked, even though it strictly says "Keep Out". He passes through it with the same ease Jason had the last time they'd been there, and the door to the green room also gives an audible click as soon as Nik's hand touches the knob, and the room is opened. Nik flips on the light, holding the door open for his fellows, taking in the room for what seems to be the first time seeing it.

Sadie steps in the back and smiles warmly at Nik. She doesn't think a thing about it supposedly being locked. The back is like one would expect for employees. It is a corridor and then off to the side is the 'green' room. Sadie moves in that direction and then looks past it towards the outside and where Nik said he parked.

Avery follows inside and lets Nik close the door behind him. "So then. What brings you up to town, Nik?" His voice is amiable, polite, and he leans on the counter in the room.

Nik lingers near the door, swiping a hand over his forehead. His breaths are no longer shallow, but come deep and slow, and the sheen of sweat on his brow comes off with the back of his wrist. He looked much more at ease and even cracks a half smile at Avery. "My brother, Ivan." He states simply, eyes flicking to study the flowery top Sadie wore beneath the manly leather jacket.

Sadie exposes a bit of her flesh because of that shirt too. She turns to look at Nik and then at Avery. There is a softening of her eyes at Ivan's name before she lowers her lashes to conceal her thoughts away. "Well.. um.." She turns it over in her head to come up with something to talk about. "Nik is going to take me to dinner this weekend. Isn't that nice? Out of the kindness of his heart and everything."

Avery freezes at that, and his eyes grow darker. "I heard about that," the half-moon says soberly. "Kenneth was going to take Ollie and a pack with him to hunt down the Dancer; try to find his ex and daughter. Not sure when he's leaving to do it..." He blinks and then smiles to Sadie, "And how's Gabe doing?"

Nik lifts his eyes once more to Sadie's face when she speaks, his brow going up. He doesn't object nor verify, but looks simply amused. Something Avery says captures his attention, however, and the older Shadow Lord stands rigid. If he were Lupus his fur would be on end. "Finds his.... what?" He asks, his voice a low, deadly calm, his eyes storming.

Sadie tips her head. "He has a daug.." Then she looks at Nik. Then to Avery. This goes on about three more times before the kin starts to move at a rapid pace towards the exit. "Hey um.. I just remembered something I have to do, that isn't you know.. here." No one ever said Sadie was a good liar.

Avery sees the reaction of the Ragabash and calmly steps between him and and the kin. "His ex-wife, and their daughter," he repeats. "I guess you hadn't heard." His face is grim, then. "And please...be calm. Don't want a stampede here in the club."

Nik becomes even more rankled at the confirmation of what he thought he heard. His eyes cut to Sadie, a somewhat furious tinge to them until he sees the slight look of confusion in her eyes too. A few tense moments pass as Nik stands here wordlessly, practically crackling with wrath. "I need to go," he finally says, flatly. He pulls his keys and his cellphone out of his pocket and turns. "Nice meeting you, Avery," he sends to the Philodox before the door closes behind him and he storms down the hallway.

Sadie cowers back from the furious tinge and then she offers. "I didn't know, Nik. I swear. I didn't even know your brother." The good thing about being a bad liar? Your sincerity shows crystal clear. She watches the angry man start off and offers after him, "Call me later.. we can um.. talk if you want." Then she looks over towards Avery and stares at him. "I don't think he knew."

"Later, Nik." After the door closes, Avery shakes his head, anger rolling a bit in him, but he takes a deep breath, then lets it out. "No, he didn't." He closes his eyes a long moment, looking tired, then looks back over to the kin-girl, "And sorry that I'm not the best of company either. Life got turned sideways, and it's my moon at the moment."

Nik can barely be heard growling, almost to himself, or perhaps on his cellphone. From behind the club the sound of a powerful engine roars to life, and it takes no time at all for it to fade off into nothing.

Sadie watches Nik's exit for a few more moments and then shakes her head a bit. "I'm worried about him. He just lost his brother and now finds out about a niece." She sighs softly. "Where is she? Still with the mother and.. why did your life get turned sideways?" There is a protective narrowing of her eyes. "You haven't been... you know with you know have you?"

Avery shakes his head. "I have no idea. Just what Kenneth mentoined for taking Ollie out with her Rite, and as for the other?" He smiles t Sadie, "No, no I haven't, though if either of us were kin, then..." He smiles, "We've been good, don't worry." He sighs, "Still, it gets lonely. I've heard that she has someone though, or rather has two someones, and I'm not sure how that works. No, with me....I found out that my mom...didn't actually give birth to me."

Sadie nods her head to that a bit. "Well.. my father wasn't my biological dad. He was still my Daddy though." Sadie offers lightly to that as she smiles towards the Garou. "Yeah, I don't like her boyfriend though. He might be the only person I hope dies in fire." Sadie actually sneers a bit at that before clears her throat. "Sorry.. I'm protective of my friends."

Avery nods, "And mom's still mom. But it just...is a shock finding out, you know?" Hearing Sadie's assessment, he lifts his eyebrows, "She seemed happy enough with him this morning." He lifts his hands then and shakes his head, "But tell me some other time, when I'm less liable to do..unfortunate things then, all right?"

Sadie shakes her head. "It is her life and she can live it, I don't have to approve of it. I mean, I'd still date Gabe after his Rite if she didn't approve of him, you know?"

Avery nods, "Yeah, and I wish you and him well," his lips curl up and eyes flash, "Even if I also wish it hadn't worked ot so I could have had a shot..." He shakes his head, "But, alas, 'twas not meant to be."

Sadie blinks slowly to that. "Had a shot.. why would.." Sadie tips her head to the left and then back towards the right. "Well..." She pauses and then smiles. "He's been busy working. I'm sure that he's spending a lot of time with Coriander."

Avery nods and opesn his mouth when Coriander is mentioned. He stops, looks like he was punched in the gut, going pale a bit. "I...ah....Coriander....." He shakes his head, "I hope...I hope you guys are happy together." He sits down then, and for a brief second there is an expression of grief on his face before it fades back to nothing.

Sadie lowers her brows in concern. "Cole doesn't want us together until after his Rite, so we aren't exactly together..." She trails off before saying they aren't exactly apart either. Then she smiles a bit towards him in a soothing fashion. "What's wrong with Coriander? Did you have a fight with her?"

Avery looks up, "But you will be, right? So no point in flirting or anything else, right?" At the question, he shakes his head. "She...she got killed last night. Her and Isabel. No idea what or how, but...."

Sadie frowns to that. "I don't think that I personally knew either of them. Is death always this much? There is Sean, Ivan, Coriander and Isabel." Sadie shakes her head as she tries to turn that around in her mind.

Avery shakes his head, "I don't know....I never knew Ivan. Never heard of him until I heard we were supposed to avenge him. And I've never heard of Sean, or Isabel until Last night. I knew Cori, of course..."

Sadie nods her head to that and then offers. "Well if you need anything, just let me know and I'll see what I can do."

Avery nods, "I....what I need, you can't provide, so I won't ask." He smiles, 'But I still hope we're friends, yes?"

Sadie lifts her brows to that in confusion. "What do you need that I can't provide? Do you need one of the other side of the family members for something?" There is a soft giggle. "Of course, always friends."

Avery grins, "Well, considering that you're going to be going out with Gabe, it would be...rude and churlish of me to ask for anything like that from you." He chuckles back at the giggle, "But if you know of a nice Kin-girl who's unattatched, preferably of Thunder, well...I'd like to make her aquaintence. Other than that, just a hug?"

Sadie shakes her head. "I don't know anyone from Thunder to be honest. I might not have met them yet though." She moves over to give Avery a hug, or rather attempt it.

Avery lets her, and when she does, he hugs back, gripping a bit firmer than is necessary. Not quite like a drowning man clutching a board, but more that than waves of passion. "Yeah....I iddn't know there were any female kin until I saw Danae a couple of days ago."

Sadie shakes her head, waiting for him to release before she does. "I'm afraid I don't know her. So see? There must be lots of people and kin that I don't know."

Avery nods and holds for a moment, then slowly lets go. "Yeah, but you know lots more than I do..." He grins a bit. "So....what do you think. Should we go back to the club? Make them jealous of us?"

Sadie wrinkles up her nose. "I don't feel much like dancing. Nik stormed out, people have died.." She shrugs a bit to that.

Avery nods, "I understand....Some, though, use the celebration to take their minds off of things like that." He pauses a moment, "May I walk you home instead?"

Sadie laughs to that. "My car is outside. It would be easier to walk there than to my house." She bounces on the balls of her feet with a bit of energy.

Avery nods and offers his hand then, "Gotta get my stick out at the entrance. But then..shall we go?" Right hand is offered to the kin, left goes to open the green room door.
