Re-watching the pilot episode of Buffy for like the bazillionth time. I love the way vampires just turn to dust. It's so... convenient. Well, probably not for the digital effects team, but I mean in real life... I mean in the Buffyverse.

What weird preconceptions did you have of high school or college from tv/movies?

daria: that if you were smart, it didn't matter how anti-social you were. you could get all the perks that the sociable got (grades, boyfriend, college, best friend in the world), or better, without changing.
daria only "sells herself" in one episode. everything else is about exploiting how her classmates are cattle.
bleh, i mean, it kind of right, in the sense that if you're comfortable with you, then fuck the rest. but you can't be brutally honest all the time. sometimes you have to kick some ass to get what you want.

i personally like the kicking ass part. All I ever wanted out of high school after seeing buffy was to be able to flip a 300 pound douchey linebacker over my shoulder... sadly, that never happened.

that everyone would be so witty, oh so witty. but I also read too much Austen so really all things should be taken in moderation.

I was also told to expect a lot more social stratification than I felt. I mean, yeah, the jocks were cliquey but it wasn't like there was out and out social ostricization (I think?). And I didn't know anything about the drinkin' or the drugs until senior year because I am NAIVE, with umlauts and everything.

!!!! packing!!!! !!!!!
