You must no longer live as the Gentiles do…having lost all sensitivity they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more. Ephesians 4:17, 19
For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Thessalonians 4:7
Looking back on my youth, I can see instances when God refused me something that I continued to persue. I've found it works best to have little or no desire for anything, that way I don't fall into the trap of expectation. Expectations get us in to big trouble. We expect our husbands to do things, our friends, our employers. When they don't we start weighing the reasons why and discerning our options. The Lord still works with me to only expect things to happen as He wills them. Loosening the reigns on my own life was probably the hardest step in my walk with Him.
