I ended up revising that picture book story and giving it to the teacher last Friday and I got it back today. She said she was really impressed with how I applied the criticism to improving the story and that moments like these are 'the reason she teaches', that it pleased her on a personal level. I think I have the opposite problem, if I go sit down to write something I have to keep reading what I just wrote to myself and editing it along the way to make it perfect. The problem with that is that I never get farther than a chapter at best. Teach me how to NOT edit? :P
Don't look at it like a chore, think of it more as an adventure and a way you can change the story, you're kind of like a god pulling all the little string and saying welp, don't like you doing that so your gonna do this BUAHAHHAHA!

It's not so bad to edit once I get going. It's just the initial criticism, 'What, it's not perfect? ;-;' part, I guess. =x
Teach you not to edit? =x Well, you could try doing some exercises with a timer. I found those really helpful for getting used to the pace you have to keep up for NaNo. But I'm one of those weird writers who finds stress helpful, even beneficial to writing. (I like deadlines.)
