Matchmaking 7/?

Ginny smiled as she walked down hand in hand to the pond with Dean. Ever since Percy and Oliver’s’ wedding they’d been nearly inseparable. She was so thankful to Harry for convincing him to give her a second chance after the way she’d dumped him. He’d forgiven her for that and all the things she’d done to him while they’d been together at school.

“Penny for your thoughts?” Dean said when he noticed the contemplative look on her face.

Ginny’s smile widened and she looked up into Deans dark brown eyes.

“Just thinking about how lucky I am that you took me back.”

Dean chuckled softly and squeezed her hand.

“I’m the lucky one. I have you.”

“But I was horrible to you. I used you. I’m so sorry for that.”

“Gin, stop apologizing for that. It’s in the past now. Let’s just look to the future.”

Ginny moved closer and pecked Dean on the cheek. A few moments later they had reached the pond and the picnic Dean had set up there. A large blanket was spread out on the grass. A picnic basket sat to the side along with a bottle of champagne.

“Oh Dean, it’s beautiful.”

He led her over to the blanket and helped her get settled. Then he sat across from her and opened the bottle of champagne. He poured two glasses and handed her one.

“To us.” He said, clinking their glasses together.

She smiled and took a sip from her glass. Then Dean opened the basket and pulled out a container of strawberries. He held one out for her and she took a bite. Then he leaned forward and kissed her gently on the lips.

“Speaking of ‘us’”, he began, leaning back; “there’s something I need to tell you.”

“Okay.”

“Remember when I told you I applied to that art school in Paris?”

“Yes.”

“Well I got accepted. I start in the spring.”

Ginny tried to smile; she wanted to be happy for him. Getting accepted to this school was a big thing, but all she could think was that he’d be leaving her. She looked down so he wouldn’t see her face.

“T…that’s great, I’m really happy for you.” She said, trying not to start crying.

“Gin, what’s wrong? Gin look at me.” Dean said, reaching out to touch her shoulder.

Ginny took a deep breath and forced a smile onto her face then looked up at her boyfriend.

“N…nothing, I really am happy for you.”

“Then why do you look so sad?”

“B…because Paris is so far away.”

“I know, that’s why I want you to come with me.”

Ginny’s eyes widened and smiled up at him.

“R…really?”

“Of course, I love you Ginny, I don’t want to be without you.”

Ginny’s heart leapt for joy but that joy was short lived as reality crashed in on her.

“I’d love to go with you Dean, but I think you’re forgetting something.”

“What?”

“The fact that I have six older brothers, well ten if you include Harry, Cedric , and Oliver, and I don’t think any of them would want me shacking up with you in Paris.”

Dean chuckled and took Ginny’s hand.

“I did think of that actually, which is why I don’t want you to come to Paris as my girlfriend. I want you to come as my wife.”

Ginny looked up at him and her breath caught in her throat. She couldn’t speak, she couldn’t think. Dean smiled at her then reached into his pocket and pulled out a sparkling sapphire ring and held it out to her.

“Ginevra Molly Weasley, will you marry me?”

Ginny still couldn’t find her voice so she just nodded. Tears slipped from her eyes as he placed the ring on her finger. Once it was on she flung her arms around his neck and kissed him passionately. They fell back onto the blanket, their kisses becoming heated. They were so wrapped up in each other that they almost didn’t hear someone approaching. But growing up with six nosey older brothers had given Ginny sort of a sixth sense about these things. She pulled away from Dean and motioned for him to be quiet. She the peered up over a nearby bush and saw her brother Charlie heading their way with his new wife Dora.

Realizing how Charlie might see their innocent picnic, she grabbed her wand and cast a quick repelling spell. She then watched as they headed over to one of the many trees surrounding the pond. Dean was watching now as well.

“Maybe we should go, they might want to be alone.” He said.

“We can’t leave, they’d see us and I don’t think you want my brother to see the two of us sneaking around the pond.”

Dean nodded and they went back to watching the other couple. They’d sat down beneath the tree and were talking softly.

“What I wouldn’t give for a pair of Fred and George’s extendable ears right now.” Ginny muttered, straining to hear what they were saying.

“He said ‘I think we should tell them tonight’ and she said ‘Are you sure you still want to do this?’ “A voice behind them said.

Ginny and Dean both spun around and found themselves face to face with Remus. He smiled and sat down next to them.

“Your Mum was looking for you, she was about to send Ron to come find you but I volunteered instead.” He said to explain his presence.

“Why?” Dean asked.

“Because I was once young and in love too.” He said with a knowing smile, causing the two young people to blush.

“So, we were watching Charlie and Dora?” Remus said.

“Y…yeah., so what are they saying now?” Ginny asked.

“’I’m just afraid your parents are going hate me’ ; ‘Don’t be silly Dora, they won’t hate you’ ; ‘My Mum hates me’; ‘No she doesn’t’ ; They’re going to figure it out’ ; ‘No they’re not, we waited four weeks and you’re not even showing yet, there’s no way they’ll figure out you were pregnant before we got married…..’ “ Remus trailed off then and the three of them just stared at each other.

“Dora’s pregnant?” Ginny said

“Apparently.” Remus said.

“Wow.” Dean said.

They all turned back to Charlie and Dora. Charlie had stood up and was looking down at Dora who was still sitting on the grass.

“ ‘Are you ready to head back?’ ; ‘No I think I’m going to stay here for a little bit.’ “ Remus relayed.

Charlie smiled down at Dora for a moment then headed back to the house. Dora waited until he was gone before she buried her head in her hands and began to sob softly. Dean and Remus looked at Ginny expectantly.

“What?” Ginny asked.

“Aren’t you going to go, you know, comfort her or something?” Dean asked.

“Why do I have to do it? Is it because I’m a girl?”

“Well….” Dean began.

“Why can’t either of you do it?”

“You know I’m no good with crying women.” Dean said.

“What about you? She’s your boyfriend’s cousin.”

“What has that got to do with anything? I’m no better with crying women than Dean here.”

“Oh you guys are hopeless! Fine I’ll go.” Ginny said, getting to her feet and heading over to Dora.
