I want to get better at reading Chinese, so I'm going to try to translate a sci-fi novel. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to deal with this -- just doing the inside cover nearly drove me mad, and took me the better part of 2 days. Last night in Berkeley, we were walking toward our car to go home when we heard a dull thud, followed by the sound of something scraping along the road.
