Did you sign on with a contract based on the shift you were going to work? I would just tell them straight-up that this is what you were hired for & this is what you expect to work, & otherwise they're going to be looking for a new supervisor. Sounds lame.

Unfortunately there was no "contract" regarding my employment or anything. I really don't know how to find out more information about whether they can actually move me around like that without regards to my preferences. I know that I cannot force a server from one shift to move to another shift because when we hired them it was for one particular shift so why can they do that to me? I am so frustrated about this whole situation.

Well, I think your bartender friend has the right idea. You definitely need to start out by talking to the person immediately in charge of this and explaining the situation and asking what options there are. And if you think she is doing it purposefully to keep you out of the management's eyes... then you also definitely need to talk to your friend.

It seems like they would want to help keep someone who does a good job for them, in a position like supervisor. So maybe you will be able to work it all out...

Good luck.
