I read the whole thing, and don't be sorry... it was good! I don't know what to say about the 'recognition' thing except that though my experiences aren't the same, I've certainly had that under-appreciated or overlooked feeling before. In the year and a half I've been at my job, for example, my boss has had me buy very elaborate gifts for several members of his staff. I've never gotten one, yet he routinely tells me I'm the best.
