More about hurricane season

Jun 18, 2010 20:15

So last night my father-in-law (reserve offices in our parish) had to attend a hurricane preparedness meeting with the Sheriff and the Parish President.  As if it were possible, I am now even MORE terrified than I was before ( Read more... )

Oh man, I don't want to think about hurricane season. I've got family all across the gulf coast, it seems like every year it hurts at least one of them.

I don't know about putting you guys up long term, but I do have connections to someone high up in management for a popular hotel chain that can get wicked discounts if you needed someplace temporary. She's in Egypt I think until July or August, but I can probably get ahold of her pretty quickly if something happened.

Let's cross our fingers that nothing does though!

That's really nice of you. Hopefully we won't have to evac at all. If its something small and they are just closing off Plaquemines, I think we're going to just go to my mom's house in Marrero and ride it out there. But if its something that poses an imminent threat to the whole NOLA area, we're running far far away!

I just might take you up on that offer to see about a discount at the hotel if it comes to that! Thanks.

Haha. Anyone who doesn't mind giant dogs, cats, chickens, & sugar gliders can come stay at my house. It's only halfway across the country!

I told Tim when we were discussing where we would go that I was sure we had a place in Colorado... You foster big dogs all the time, I'm sure Benjamin isn't nearly as destructive as they are. At least he doesn't poop on your floors and eat your furniture! lol

Haha... the dogs (at least the ones I have had recently!!) aren't so bad in those respects anymore.. they just take up SPACE! And insist on hanging around you alllll the time. My house is def. not the place to be for those who value personal space!

Wow, that's crazy... keep us posted, huh? I'll pray for y'all. I know you aren't keen on moving just now.

Thanks for the prayers, Mo! We really could use them this season. The "experts" are predicting that this will be an active year, storm-wise.

And, yeah, we DEF don't want to have to move again after just getting settled into the new place.

You could stay here. We have two spare bedrooms :)

Of course, maybe my parents will be camped out here too, in that case. What a horrible situation. But hopefully there won't be any storms... they keep predicting bad seasons, but it hasn't been bad for N.O., thank goodness.

I don't think I could stomach the mess that Houston will be if another storm hits NOLA. Maybe you should consider evacuating with us as well! :)

Wouldn't that make for an *interesting* evacuation story? You and Mark playing host to your parents and the three of us... I think we would have to write a book about that one once it was all over!
