Tricks and Tips

Several entries back, I asked friends of this journal what sort of tutorial-type things they'd like to see, and here I am now, trying to fulfill that promise with a few little things. They're not all necessarily full tutorials, but hopefully, those of you who are interested will pick up something of interest. Again, I'll be demonstrating these ( Read more... )

If you don't have a copy of it available to you, I don't know that you'd want to go out and try to get a version of it, as it's awfully expensive. But I happen to have the advantage of getting a copy for free through my school (with a few license strings attached, unfortunately), and it serves me faithfully and well. :-)

I have version 7 I think (I stole it from somewhere?). I generally only use it for text though, but I might expand :)

ooh, precious! thank you for revealing some of the professional secrets ;-)

I didn't think about cutting parts of the upper layers ;)
this gives me another idea; if I knew how to make alpha-transparent PNGs, erasing parts of a layer could let show the background through instead of the white base... for the few people who don't use Internet Explorer, at least.

yeah, the problem that I found is that partial transparency doesn't seem to work outside of Photoshop, so I had to start sticking those base colors behind there. You really actually get some very cool looking icons without that background base, but they only look that way in Photoshop, sadly :-(

Hey, thanks for adding me back!:D Bummer you don't know about PSP, but nevertheless, I'm enjoying reading through your tutorials and hopefully I can find something similar with my prog. lol
