I don't even own a TV, so all this passed me by, but after I heard that we'd won I watched the song on YouTube - and yeah, I agree completely with everything you said.

About soccer - Germany will never be done with soccer, not even for a while! ;)

The first time I heard it (not knowing it was our entry) I thought: "Ugh, that girl can't sing at all."
Thank you. I thought I was all alone with my opinion. I don't mind the song. I think it has nice "ear worm" characteristics and is at least not a pretentious repetition of some 80ies hit restructered. But the voice is just not for me. I had not listened to the song completely once before the show because whenever it came on the radio I changed programmes.
I admit that Lena is very pretty and has a sort of natural, very naive charm. But I would rather not listen to her.

What Ju wrote.
I was utterly surprised that she won, th song didn't sound like a typical Eurovision song for me. Maybe that made her win, plus the naive charme Ju wrote about.
As I heard the somng for the first time, I was shocked, especially by Lena's accent - Rika said it was a fake, made-up Cockney accent. I don't like it at all, it sounded so toenail-curling wrong to me. And her singing style is just not mine, nor is her style of music. I prefer something woth more... melody in it.
