Suicide x 4 (Something HAS to change.)

We got the news today that the 4th student in our county committed suicide this weekend.

The 4th student in a month.

The first three were boys from another school, the 4th a girl from my son's school.

In response a girl posted this on facebook today:

The easiest way to get rid of a negative is with a positive--so very true. In addition, if you are the depressed person, if you do smile at one person, you start to feel better (smiling does make people feel better).

Sharing whatever is positive is a win-win. Almost every time.

That is a horrible statistic. 4!!!

I'm almost sure it wasn't simply bullying that put these kids over the edge, but bullying was just one of the reasons why. If it's a chemical depression, I hope they seek medical help. But if it's situational depression, that means they're getting negatives everywhere they turn.

Like you said, maybe a positive, or a few positives, would have been enough to keep one of these kids from committing suicide.

I'm so afraid for my kids... their generation is going to be a mess unless something changes.
