I got a job offer! From Bill Lichtenstein at Lichtenstein Creative Media, which is where I interned this summer.

Now I just need to email back what my salary range is....and I have no clue what to ask for. Any ideas?

Well, as a general rule of thumb, your rent should be a third of your income. In the bay area (where rent is astronomical) my rent was more like half my income, and I managed. So how much are you paying for rent? Let's say you're sharing a house and paying 550 bucks. So, you'd want to make around 1,600 a month...working 40 hours a week, that's 10/hr. Which, even for an entry-level position is NOT too much to ask. I made it in CA on 12/hr, but I wouldn't have wanted to make ANY less, since I was only breaking even each month. (uhh, and sometimes dipping into my savings. it was freaking expensive there.)
Sooo --- 10-12 dollars and hour creates a livable wage. Because one can't live on 8/hr. Not in Boston for sure.
