THE FUTURE

Is something I find myself thinking about often these days.....I was told 2 weeks ago by my school counselor that, starting next month, I should research jobs in Japan and try to go to info sessions and start what many Japanese call, "就職活動." It's a scary Japanese way of looking for a job before you graduate school.

Once you graduate from school you ( Read more... )

The link doesn't work on my ipad.. Will try on computer later!

As for living in Japan longterm, it is definitely hard. Most foreign friends I have made went home, and none of them regret it. If you go back to the US, you could try finding work for iPhone app companies. That seems to be the next big market for gaming. You could teach Japanese, you could draw indies comics, you could do storyboards for animation, etc.

It would suck not having you around, though :(

Your comic looks really cute! Will you have time to tone it?

I like how you listed no pros for the side of staying in Japan ^^; There seem to be a lot of IPhone app start-ups here too.

How did you go about looking for a job? Did you do the job fairs/info sessions? Or did you just make a connection?

I'm gonna have time to tone it bc I don't have time to send it to an actual printer....OTL I'd have to send in my comic tomorrow to have it printed in time. I'm gonna make my own books by ordering covers to be made with good paper and then photocopying the insides. It'll be an upscale copybon. I think I might print some postcards too with my zodiac animal paperdolls...but I don't know yet. I'll see how much it's going to cost tomorrow.

Well, my pros for staying in Japan would not be the same as yours. I still don't know you well enough to know what you enjoy about Japan... More manga opportunities is the only pro I can think of. I've actually heard that the gaming market is starting to show that American game makers are slightly ahead nowadays. Yeah, apps are made just about everywhere, but the only companies I know about are American :p ( ... )

Before I have to leave from where?

What it is I want to do in Japan? It's the same as what I want to do in America. Live and have some time to do the things I like. I just want to exist comfortably enough and draw or create stuff. That's really all I've ever wanted. I don't feel like I'm a complicated person ^^;)

So you were doing mochikomi all the time? Shit, I really need to get my act together. I was way too lazy in the spring and summer (; o ;) and my teacher saw my Comitia manga today and said it was, "zatsu," and that's all.

OTL i know it's not the most effort I've put into something but now I'm really feeling down about it. (ノ◇≦。) ビェーン!! I wanna cry
