I can't spell French. It was never my strong point. Though when I look back at my high school French days, I realize that it must have been a language that rather agreed with me because I was a B student and never studied. Bûche de Noël is how it's spelled. :> In Japanese, I think that's how they actually say it, too, so that might be why she knows it. 「ブッシュ・デ・ノエル」 or something.
Basically, it's like a "Pyre of Christmas" or "Christmas Log." LOL.

You know, I don't think my family has every done a yule log, though my mom occasionally has eaten some fruit cake (I think she must be about the only person I know who eats it). We usually do cookies and chocolate pie, but we just like to be atypical that way.

to tell you the truth i don't think my family has ever had a yule log either but i wanted to teach them about traditional things. i think we usually eat things like eclairs. haha. it's good to be atypical isn't it?
