I had a dream about the Fair Tax last night. I was trying to convince some one that the fair tax would work. They kept saying it would be too much taxes and I had to point out that it would only work if the income tax was abolished. (IE repeal the 16th amendment and then instate it) Then we started arguing about embedded taxes and it shifted to me ( Read more... )

I pray I can get rid of whatever this sickliness is that I've got now too... its gotten worse today and I've had it since thursday; just pray its nothing worse than a mean cold...

1) The Fair Tax is almost 2x what I currently pay in Income Tax (Assuming 100% of my income goes to consumable goods)

Many economists say that in order for a National Sales Tax to bring in the same revenue as the current tax system it would actually have to be much closer to 40% than 27% (which would be almost 3x what I am currently paying)

If you assume that 50% of my income actually goes towards non consumable (and therefore non-sales tax) goods, then I actually pay almost the exact same I am paying either what I am paying now (Under Boortz's plan) or 1.5x what I am paying now (under what many economists say)

Where do I benefit?

I'm waiting for her to reply with something along the lines of, "But because of the blue sniper bunnies, you actually end up paying less." Since it was a dream and all. :)
