when you have a perfect command of colloquial chinese and japanese, maybe then you can criticise the engrish. in the meantime, exactly how much thought went into your tags: big, big nuts, brand, brands, cock, funny, lmao, lol, nuts, omg, pics, piss, rofl, soup, wtf. there's some real maturity there.

Are you new to the internet? god_o_love July 28 2008, 13:42:33 UTC
Immaturity put aside, my parents are immigrants, so you're barking up the wrong tree.

If you've got a sensitivity problem up to a point when you can't enjoy a messed up translation that arrives in the content of funny brands, than you've some issues to work out.

No one forced you to go into my journal, read the words in the pics, or whatever.
Plus I'm sure you know I didn't make up the pics (as part of my evil hate spreading plan).

Also, I think it's crucial to mention that the tags: "big, big nuts, brand, brands, cock, funny, lmao, lol, nuts, omg, pics, piss, rofl, soup, wtf" are descriptive, and that is what tags are all about.

Ohh so your parents are immigrants, you can't possibly be racist!

Happy to laugh at something funny, if you want to try posting it.

As for "new to the internet", can you tell me what part of "big" you think a search engine won't match in "big nuts" ?

You are obviously a tool looking for an argument.
Discussion over.

funny but... sim_ldn July 28 2008, 13:41:19 UTC
made me laugh but it's still a bit unfair.

in the case of the Cock brand, which I've seen, that's an established name that pre-dates the time when 'cock' came mainly to refer to something other then a bird. spotted dick is not a brand name, it is the name of a particular kind of british pudding -- spotted dick; there is simply no other way to describe what is in the can. shito is again the name of the product, and anyway is spelt different from the 'funny' word you're thinking of. coolpis is presumably similar to the more popular japanese product, calpis ('cal' from calcium, pis from sarpis (sanskrit for 'good taste' )) so is named similarly. and so on... all perfectly legit.

seems to me that a lot of the humour relies on simply being quite ignorant of the products themselves. bit like giggling in class at a foreign word that is spelt like something odd in english.

as unfair as it is, the fart drink still cracks me up though :)

Exactly!

I'm sure that somewhere in Europe there's a sweet old granny that sends off her grand kids to school packed with jussipussi sandwiches, but IT SOUNDS LIKE *J U I C Y P U S S Y*!!! so it's funny to some.
