So I am going to be visiting my parents new place in Port Richie, FL (near Tampa) and was looking for something to do for the 2 weeks I will be down there

My old stompin' ground, and I was there just a month or so ago.

See if you can swing by Ybor City, a neighborhood of Tampa. That's considered the hippest part of town and home to dozens of art and culture type places, some high, some low, some geeky, and a lot of it interesting.

Tampa has a Museum of Science that I unfortunately never got to see when I've been down there.

And I gotta plug Weeki Wachee Springs up where US 19 and Highway 50 come together in Hernando County. My aunt used to be a Mermaid there. Watch the Eagles fly and the parrot races.

If you ever go to EPCOT Center in Disney World, they have a restaurant in the Chinese quarter of World Showcase. Last time my folks were there they told me that Minmei was working the waitress staff.

I know I'm replying to myself, but a geek-culture thing you should know about Weeki Wachee Springs...it's where they did the aquatic filming for much of the TV series SeaQuest. Dunno if you'd remember that.

Actually, I'm thinking the salt water wouldn't be too bad. I mean, every time I get a piercing they tell me to soak it in salt water. And the dentist tells me to rinse daily with salt water when I have an extraction. Sand, on the other hand - not so much...
