Okay, those of you with dirty minds went somewhere else completely, didn't you? Admit it! LOL

Rodney bit back his instinctive shout.

Years of working with John on missions had made him learn, sometimes the hard way, to hold on to his initial reaction when faced with a dangerous situation. He stood and watched, quiet but alert. Not that he could help if anything went wrong.

It seemed like an hour but it probably was only about five minutes when John dropped off the balcony railing to the solid ground. That was Rodney's cue.

"WHAT WERE YOU DOING UP THERE?" Rodney shouted.

John looked up, startled, then grinned. "Hey!"

"Don't you 'hey' me, you moron," Rodney growled. "What. Were. You. Doing?"

John's grin faltered for a moment and he blushed. "Cleaning gutters?"

"Cleaning gutters?" Rodney echoed in disbelief. "We're twenty stories up! What gutters?"

"Well, something's plugged somewhere," John told him. He reached into a bucket Rodney hadn't paid attention to and held up a sodden mass of clothing. One of the larger, very wet pieces was bright orange and Rodney recognized his orange fleece. He had wondered where that had gotten to. Bottom of their now-wet closet, obviously.

"There's a leak in the back of the closet and from what I can see it's probably coming through an outside wall," John shrugged. "So I went looking to see if maybe there were backed up gutters."

"John," Rodney said patiently. "We're twenty stories up and there's another eight stories above us. It could be anywhere!"

"Umm, I guess," John admitted.

Rodney sighed. "And climbing around on balcony railings twenty stories up isn't, I don't know, dangerous?"

"Oh," John looked out the balcony to their view of the jumper bay. "Sorry."

"John!" Rodney sighed.

Looking at the wet mass in his hand, John dropped it back into the bucket. "I liked that fleece," he said softly.

"Idiot," Rodney murmured. He moved to John and wrapped his arms the other man. "You scared the hell out of me."

"Sorry," John mumbled into his neck, the warm puff of air making Rodney shiver.

"More likely a hole in the wall due to micro-asteroids, anyway," Rodney observed. "From the time everything was exposed to vacuum. Actually, surprised there aren't more holes from that. We can do a smoke test to see if we can find the leak."

"Really?" John's head came up.

"With a jumper and safety lines," Rodney said firmly.

John leaned in for a kiss that Rodney made deeper by virtue of not letting him go.
