I almost ran over a river otter this morning on my way to work. At least, he looked like a river otter. Devinately not a possum - sleek and wet, with a long chubby tail. Ran like a ferret. I maintain river otter. What else might live in the wetlands near my house

Yeah, I'm glad I didn't hit him too. He seemed pretty savvy, making a break for it in a traffic lull. The guy behind me made quite a ruckus - I think he thought I was doing it on purpose.
