Took a break from finals Saturday night to go see Thor.  Initially, I was excited to see it because Kenneth Branagh directed it, and I knew he would make it all Shakespearean and shit.  He didn't disappoint.  What he also did was make a superhero movie like I remember them from my childhood, big, operatic, flashy, colorful, melodramatic.  I fucking ( Read more... )

Ooh, I've been curious about Thor and I'm very happy to hear what you thought! Aha! I hadn't made the connection of the actor with Reboot Star Trek. Cool!

Rock on with your finals! \o/

I wouldn't have made the connection either, if not for my obsessive IMDBing after the fact. Now, of course, it makes sense, though it makes me wish he had been cast as Kirk. Definitely more charisma and smiley charm. Just like I like my James T. Kirk.

Damn, now I need Thor icons.

Finals almost done! Exciting!!!

And now you've made me want to go see Thor. I'm not usually one for big hunky, muscley pretty boys either... but if they're done right I can definitely be persuaded.

Funny story about that movie, actually. I was running yesterday morning with a friend of mine (who is about twice my age) and was asking her what she had planned for mother's day (she has a 15-yr-old son). She said "my son and I are going to go see Thor," and I said "Oh, that's cool. Is he into comic books?" She laughed and said "No, he doesn't know anything about them. I'mactually a huge Marvel geek." And I immediately squeed, "OH MY GOD THAT'S SO AWESOME!"

It makes me ridiculously happy when the most unassuming people out themselves as nerds. :D

I was wearing my "And then Buffy staked Edward. The end." t-shirt in class the other day when a classmate whom I've never spoken to told me her son's name is Xander and that they brought him to NOLA ComicCon to meet Nicholas Brendan. I love meeting fellow geeks.

Go see Thor. Seriously. The more I think about it, the more I realize how much I enjoyed it. Definitely a popcorn superhero movie with pretty pretty.
