I have not watched any Elementary. Is there anything I need to know before I read?

Um. Joan is a woman.

No, I mean, yes. She is. An awesome woman. To get the fic itself? Alfredo is Sherlock's sponsor, that Sherlock kind of only took on because Alfredo's history of stealing cars makes him useful to help train Joan. Plus, he isn't intimidated by Sherlock. Also, he's played by this lovely man.

Sherlock and Joan live in a huge brownstone in Brooklyn. Sherlock has a bee hive on the roof.

Ken is Alfredo's sponsor. We meet him in one episode.

Sherlock, over the course of the season, has come to terms with his addiction. At the time this story is written, though, he's still kind of a prat about it.

Clyde is a tortoise. He is the most popular character on the show.

Um. Um. IDK! IDK! Ann had never seen an episode but read it and claims she likes it. But, due to tumblr, she knows things about the show and stuff.
