So this is what happened

Apr 20, 2015 17:55

I hadn't been feeling well for a couple of weeks: nausea and abdominal pain that came and went unpredictably.  Because it wasn't constant, I chalked it up to stress and poor eating habits due to my long-ass schedule for work.  Then I started throwing up.  Again, I assumed stomach flu, or something similar.  Until the actual puking, I was too ( Read more... )

I'm so glad you made it to the hospital in time to avoid the ICU! Your poor body (and mind and soul) have been through a lot; I'm glad you are feeling better physically and I hope that everything else falls back into place for you emotionally.

It's one thing to go into a procedure having some sort of idea what to expect (even if it doesn't go as planned), but it's something else entirely to go through an experience like this with no warning.

I really get what you're saying about how intimate it is to have people constantly in your ladyparts, yet it doesn't necessarily feel like a violation. I've had so many people up my crotch in a medical sense that at one point I felt like I needed to charge them for the thrill.

Here's to the anxiety easing up for you! I'm sorry you aren't able to take more time off, but I hope you're able to find quiet moments in the day to get you through.

It's so true. I had surgery 9 years ago, but it was expected and scheduled. I never really thought about my experience then, and I wasn't shaken by it at all. That was ladyparts surgery, so I hear what you're saying about all the people being all up in my business at the time.

But this one, unexpected and the result of illness, has completely thrown me. I have to believe it will get better, because I really don't want this to become my new normal. I suppose it's about giving myself the time and space I need to reach someplace better.

Thank you for your kind words and support!

Wow! Glad to hear that you're on the mend.

Our friend Sarah had to have an emergency gall bladder removal, too, back in October. (Hers was more dramatic, so I'm glad to hear there was no ICU involved.)

If I were anywhere close, I'd come and visit and take you out to dinner and give you a hug, but since I'm not, I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Thank you, my friend. I appreciate all the positive thoughts and support I can get.

I, too, am glad in retrospect that my emergency surgery wasn't emergency-er. I hope Sarah is doing well.

(And yes, Sarah is doing well. I'm sharing this with her, too.)

Thank you! I'm sorry I haven't answered your last email. I've been kind of in and out of a fog and not really communicating well with others yet. <3
