You can try talking to them, but I would highly suggest being calm and reasonable and attempt to not sound accusatory when you do it.
It has nothing to do with who's in the right or wrong, but it's easy to get the person on the defensive immediately if you start off accusatory. I saw a bunch of tips online awhile back for conducting reasonable discussions without making someone defensive right off the bat, but I couldn't tell you where it was anymore. Might've been the Relationship section of MSN.
Regardless, it's important that if they turn around and calmly offer their own viewpoint on the subject, that you accept it instead of just dismissing it outright. Doing something like this can turn a conversation into nowhere fast.
Otherwise, you could of course not talk to them at all, and let it fester, or even write it off. But none of those solutions really accomplishes much in the long run.
On a side note, I'll be putting your boots in my car tonight so there're there when I come up this weekend for Wassail.
