Oddly enough, we were just discussing using fiction as factual proof over here...which is incidentally where I saw the link to that CNN interview. Interesting how and where things connect.

Yes, there was. I knew there was going to be a lot of fodder about her "perfected Jews", so I figured I wouldn't rant about that. But when I got to that part of the conversation, I really felt that had to be pointed out as well. I mean, her most publicized comment is definitely something to attack, but the fact that she has this out-dated idea of mixed-race couples just angered me so much. It was like she was invalidating my existence as a mixed-race child, and my parents's marriage (who have been together for a good 30 years through the thick and thin). It just really upset me, and I truly want to write her a letter with a good thought out argument rather than "I hope anvils flying miraculously on your head.".

Yeah. Left Behind Fridays are the best. I discovered them about a year and a half ago, and spent a lot of time enjoying the archives. They're especially fun if you've ever read any of those godawful books...especially back in the Redwood days....

Oh, and of COURSE your parents just wanted to be a mixed-race couple so they could go around feeling all persecuted and progressive, you big silly! They ALL do. I saw it on Seinfeld once. And of course, since you were born of that union, you're destined to be that way too. I mean, if you DIDN'T have a chip on your shoulder, you'd have been born white! Like Ann! And me! 8D

I never read those books...never got into them, really. But I think I could still enjoy their humor. :)
