Bloody car trouble...

So I was on my way to work this morning, doing 80mph down the dual-carriageway (I know. Bit naughty.) when OMFG it just lost power. Battery light came on, power steering failed and I'm coasting along thinking 'Ohmyshitohmygodwhatthefuck'. I managed to pull into a lay-by safely, got my phone out and realized I'd forgotten to charge it last night. ( Read more... )

OH MY GOODNESS! I am so relieved to hear that you are all right, and that the problem is comparatively minor. Thank goodness for the RAC and good fic and a terrific garage.

BTW, are you anywhere in the south-east, or even Midlands, as I am doing a lightning trip and would love to meet up for a cuppa if it is doable without madness on either of our parts.

I surprised myself with how calm I was for one who was scared witless! My commute is 50 minutes every morning so I never like to be without breakdown cover. I think that's the insurance person part of me.

I'm in Durham, probably too far north for you to travel? I could be persuaded to pop down south for a cuppa, seems like too good an opportunity to pass up! When will you be here and where do you plan to be?

Eep, that's scary! I've had a similar experience on the motorway although I was a passenger. Seriously scary stuff, I'm glad you're ok! (Our RAC man was lovely to, despite the 50 mile round trip he had to make.)

I was SO scared! Lots of coffee and a good fic sorted me out, though. Just trying not to think of the backlog of stuff piling up at work for tomorrow now *sobs* ;-)
