So, minus the anger, this outlines every point that I've thought about religion since entering college. Well, it started before that, in high school I guess. Not having any religious background, I always realized I looked at religion more objectively than most. The conclusions I came to in high school were that people used religion as a crutch, people manipulated the Bible to suit whatever argument they were making (no consistency at all!) and that the Bible itself is not a trustworthy document. Thanks for reading & the comment. I think that people should be free to practice religion... but I think they should be heavily mocked for it at this point... to the point where they realize just how god damn stupid it is to believe in such a fairytale.
Everyone tip toes around religious people because it's "bad to make fun of someone's faith"... but I am starting to think we need to make religious people feel as dumb as their beliefs are so that the PLANET can move beyond this ridiculous dogmatic hatred.
I want an elitist atheist uprising. You even mention in your comment how you were in some ways not comfortable expressing your views because of how religious people make you feel. Time to turn the tables!
Nope, that's where we disagree. I don't think people should feel stupid for believing in a religion. Religions have good intentions, do good things, make people happy - I see nothing wrong with that. The problem I have is when religion is part of the government.
I don't think I'll ever support making someone feel bad about themselves. I'd rather lead by example and be accepting of all people, than lead by revenge, hate and anger. So no table turning for me.
