Infopost? DON'T MIND IF I DO

Dec 29, 2011 18:05

Still don't have any newbies, but a couple of things have changed for some of my kids so here, have some info.

Toby Logan

- Is a fifteen year old freshman from 1990s Toronto from the show The Listener.
- Doesn't remember more than a few bits and pieces of his life prior to about age six, when his mother handed him off to foster care for reasons unknown.
- Bounced around different foster families and group homes and even did a little bit of time in juvie before running away to live on the streets for the three months prior to his arrival in Fandom.
- Tends to forget he actually has money to spend these days, as a result.
- Works at Goodvalor's Little Bivoli, and though he's a little weirded out by some of the alien dishes, is trying to learn his way around the kitchen better after a couple of cooking-related workshops this past summer.
- Is a telepath with no real ethical qualms about reading people without their knowledge (and learning interesting things about them in the process), and no knowledge of proper telepathic shielding on his own end. Which is not to say he will ALWAYS be reading minds in a thread, but if it's in narrative, I'm likely to assume it's fair game (unless you've let me know your character can't be read at all). I'm always willing to edit a ping if you decide you specifically DON'T want something picked up on, though.
- Tends not to offer the telepathy thing up right away, and will deny it if questioned directly, but is slowly realising he probably doesn't have to be that paranoid about it.
- Will sometimes seemingly space out mid conversation due to said telepathy offering up some distracting thought.
- Occasionally experiences very strong telepathic blasts he's termed "hits", that happen when someone is in immediate danger. I'm fully willing to let this be taken advantage of in a plotty capacity somewhere.
- Is generally a nice guy and is slowly coming out of the shell of defensive self-interest that the foster care system/street instilled in him.
- Is dating Kenzi (regretiz4suckas), who encourages him (without really knowing she's doing so) to use his powers... not quite for evil, but maybe for tricksyness that usually ends up with his pockets a bit heavier.
- If you want to say definitively one way or the other whether Toby could read your character, or even if there might be things making a yes/no answer more complicated, head over here.

William Murdoch

- Is a fifteen year old sophomore from 1870s Montreal by way of Sambro (near Halifax) from the show Murdoch Mysteries (which drives me crazy with the things it keeps/changes/changes and then retcons back from book canon).
- Was taken away from his alcoholic father after his mother died and was raised at a Jesuit orphanage school.
- Speaks both English and French fluently, but his French is not the French you know, unless you're from working-class Montreal.
- Is a science nerd, aspiring detective, and something of an auto-didact. He likes learning about everything, honestly.
- Has done a bit of competitive boxing, so is fairly physically fit.
- Is a firm believer in obeying the rules... unless the lure of SCIENCE is just too much to resist things like um. Breaking in to science labs or stealing engine parts to get a better look or cannibalizing electronics to build something of his own invention.
- Works at the repair shop in town and will hopefully be continuing on as a library aide (because he's an overachiever like that), and despite his time of origin is fairly adept with modern technology at this point, thanks to tutelage from endsthegame especially as well as his own research.
- Likes coming up with ways to adapt modern innovations to the materials/technology available in his own time.
- Can be somewhat old-fashioned in his values and is very Catholic, but can also be quite open-minded about a lot of things. I try my best to avoid anything outright offensive, but there *are* certain outdated beliefs he ascribes to that could understandably make people uncomfortable. If this ever is an issue, please let me know and we'll figure something out.
- Dresses fairly formally, in a suit and hat (except when he's indoors, then there's no hat) most of the time, unless otherwise noted in narrative.
- Is courting Rilla Blythe (rilla_myrilla) in their own special Victorian/Edwardian way somewhat hindered by my massive lack of availability the past few months.

Jake Doyle

- Is a thirtysomething private detective from current-day St John's, Newfoundland from the TV show Republic of Doyle.
- Was kicked off/quit the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary due to a problem with authority and a dislike of the stupid hat he was forced to wear.
- Has a noticeable though not neccessarily terribly thick Newfoundland accent.
- Bartends Monday nights at Caritas.
- Will flirt with you if you are female and over twenty. Unfortunately has no idea how to actually relate to women, which means all of his relationships are kind of doomed to fail.
- Has some Daddy Issues (like about half the island) but deep down feels that his father's the only person he can really trust.
- Loves himself some rum.
- Hates guns.
- Needs to get punched in the face more often.
- Doesn't have enough damn bullet points.

Bobby Drake

- Is a physically 18-ish but legally probably around 23 thanks to time in his world moving faster (it's complicated, okay, but I swear I have a system) mutant, from the main Marvelverse continuity.
- Dropped out of school partway through the first semester of his senior year, and will be coming back pretty soon after going through a bit more canon.
- Can create/manipulate ice and transform himself into an organic ice form. Has been able to re-form himself out of moisture in the air after being blown up, and by switching between forms can heal himself of things like giant gaping chest wounds. Or hangovers. Is also, obviously, immune to cold.
- Is unrecognizable as Bobby when "iced up" and will insist people address him as "Iceman".
- Is physically fit as a result of that whole sekritly-a-superhero thing and works out/trains a LOT, generally in a quietly offscreen manner, but might occasionally been seen on an early-morning jog through town.
- Fluctuates between hating being a mutant and loving his powers.
- Has a voice in his head that sounds suspiciously like Emma Frost. It might actually be a leftover bit of Emma's consciousness, it might just be Bobby's own subconscious manifesting in an incredibly bizarre way. Either way, I'd ask that telepathic types please not pick up on this unless we've made prior arrangements.
- Has some rudimentary telepathic shielding thanks to living with Jean Grey and Professor Xavier for a number of years. A skilled enough telepath or one with enough brute force could probably get through his shields with no problem, though.
- Is long-distance dating the fabulous Sookie Stackhouse (justwantsquiet) although they're actually technically living together at the moment, in his parents' house.

Firekeeper

- Is a senior, from the Firekeeper Saga books and probably close to 20 by now. Which is a bit old for a high school student, but it's not like there haven't been older with all the vampires running around, and also...
- Was raised by wolves. Intelligent, language-using, larger-than-average wolves. Because of this, she can speak to and understand beasts of all kinds. I usually use italics to denote this, but unlike telepathy, it can be understood by squirrels since squirrels are animals.
- Will deny to hell and back that this ability is in any way connected to some sort of magical talent on her part.
- Has unique grammar due to the fact that she only (re)learnt human speech about five years ago. She finds it's overly complicated and so tends to ignore grammar rules she deems stupid, but makes an effort to speak properly if it's neccessary to get her point across.
- Will introduce herself as "Blysse" but narrative uses Firekeeper, which she considers her true name. It's not a secret, but if a character uses 'Firekeeper' to her face without her permission, she'll likely growl a bit.
- Works at the Gig on Sundays, where the horses are by now rather blase about the fact that she's, well, essentially a human-shaped wolf.
- Does not wear shoes, except during winter, where she'll concede that boots are better than losing her feet to frostbite.
- Is rather pale, and possesses a multitude of scars across her arms/legs. Product of growing up in the wild.
- Does not have superhuman senses, but has trained these to the best of human ability. Her sense of smell and hearing, especially, are a lot keener than your average teenager's- mostly because she's been trained in how to recognize things like what fear smells like.
- Is a lot stronger than she looks.
- Still doesn't entirely trust magic, but has learned to acknowledge its usefulness, as well as trust a few individual magic users.
- Is usually accompanied by a very large, blue-eyed wolf named Blind Seer, who gets his own bullet points.

Blind Seer

- Is huge. Not as large as Jacob, but easily twice as large as your average wolf.
- Has blue eyes. This is how he got his name; puppies are born blue-eyed and blind, and as they mature their eyes change to the more common amber. Blind Seer's eyes never changed, but he can see perfectly well.
- Is extremely intelligent. He understands everything you say to/around him, and can even read a few simple words/phrases.
- Has a wolf's sense of smell, which is better than yours. Yes, yours. If your character is quietly bleeding out but attempting to conceal it? He can tell. If your character is scared/ecstatic/lying? He can also tell. If there's anything you ever don't want him to notice, ping me and we'll figure something out.
- Can be found at the Gig on Sundays as well, where, much like with Firekeeper, the horses are like "eh, whatever" regarding the fact that he's a wolf.
- Is a sorcerer and also in complete denial about this. Like, denial so heavy that if you're inclined to sense magic, you probably won't. This may change at some point in the future.

Bridge Carson

- Is a 22 year old class of 2008 graduate currently residing in 2025 Newtech City, California, where he hangs out with teammate Z Delgado (multiplez), co-worker Jen Scotts (time_flyer_5) and husband Xander Harris Carson (needsaparrot).
- Is a Power Ranger complete with ridiculous spandex suit and giant robot.
- Is also a member of Space Patrol Delta, a sort of quasi-military police force that deals with intergalactic threats and currently actively facing a full-scale attempted invasion of Earth at a... ridiculously slow pace.
- Will eventually have the most adorable kid ever, once they get that whole saving-the-world business out of the way.
- Has psychic powers of a literally handwavey variety. Usually wears gloves to keep them under control but can sense auras, thoughts, get psychometric impressions from objects, generally anything the plot requires at a given point.
- Has said powers due to his parents being exposed to "cellular enhancers" back before he was born.
- Is kind of eccentric with sometimes hard-to-follow thought processes that usually end up in people dismissing them due to being too confusing. Of course, he's also usually RIGHT in the end, so you'd think they'd learn.
- Stands on his head when he really needs to give something serious thought.
- Is physically incapable of not wiggling his fingers every time he or someone else says the word "buttery". It's ingrained in his genetic makeup.
- Was born the day before he was born.
- Is not a Canadian, but is played by one, much like...

The Player

- Is a 28 year old former Vancouver-Islander currently living in Edmonton where it is FRIGGIN COLD and also in the Mountain Time Zone. But at least it doesn't rain all the time?
- Goes by Kimera or Bridgey usually. Unless you're MP, Tracy, or Nic, in which case I'm Copilot, Princess, or Becky, respectively.
- Is a real life cunning linguist and will never get tired of that joke.
- Is a CanCon junkie (as if you couldn't tell from a good portion of my infopost) liable to shove Canadian television and/or music at anyone foolish enough to let her.
- Will happily offer RP-related advice tied to those two above items (ie, "would my Canadian character use this particular slang word/history reference/speech pattern?" etc), sometimes unsolicited, but always in an effort to be helpful, I swear :D
- Bounces between nervous about IMing people and incredibly spammy with silly stuff, but is totally approachable.
- Is on IM as psychic cadet, Twitter as @kimerakincaid, and LJ as kimera.
- Does actually bite, but only in person and it's really a sign of affection, I swear. Or I'm trying to forcibly recruit you for my werewolf army. One of the two.
- Is one of your friendly neighbourhood admins, and so totally will try not to bite if you hit me up on AIM or whatever with questions.
- Has issues when creating bullet-list infoposts when it comes to figuring out that line between "SUPER IMPORTANT INFO" and "WHOA TEAL DEER INVASION".
