Ping here if their thoughts would be fuzzy/indistinct, or if they have some sort of psychic ability of their own that'd mean they'd be able to detect him doing his thing.

Luke's thoughts, on the other hand, will be fuzzy due to the whole half-god thing. Which is good otherwise his evil plans would have been all over the school by now.

And I'll just piggyback on this comment since Percy's half god too. Toby might be able to pick up some white noise or something but Percy's thoughts are pretty much protected by the demigod thing.
