Faith

It's interesting to me, that Atheists always think that they have successfully escaped having faith. I'm pretty sure it takes faith to think that there is no metaphysical (please, give me a better term that covers all higher powers if you can come up with one) force in the world. For me, believing in religion is like believing that one day my cats will start talking to me. While there is no reason to think my cats have the ability to speak, I just believe they will.

I also reject the term atheism because it is defined by theism. My thoughts on the matter are basically nonexistent. I do not take pride in declaring there is no god or higher power. I just don't think about it. Just like I never think that my cats will start talking to me. It just doesn't exist in my life. Call me an "afelinaphasist." :)

I had a friend back in Minnesota (where I'm from, and oddly, also where I'm typing up this reply) who called himself an apathetic agnostic, and I thought that was pretty interesting. Eventually he started calling himself a militant apathetic agnostic, and refused to celebrate any holidays. It drove his family nuts, and eventually they convinced him to accept gifts on Christmas if they agreed to call it 'Capitolism'(am I using the right one? I can never tell if it's capitAlism, or capitOlism) day.
