Repo/Heroes Crossover Drabble fic
By the time Nathan realized what he had been voting for it was too late, millions had died and his fellow politicians were only too happy to point the finger at him, the swing vote, the young fool and the man who had dammed them all. Nathan for his part could only stare in shock as the bodies piled up wondering if anyone was going to save the world now.

The day the first vial of blood showed up in his mailbox, Nathan thought it was a joke or at the worse another death threat that wouldn’t go anywhere, but as the world fell apart and Nathan’s guilt grew he began to understand. Claire wasn’t sending him the vials to save his life; she was sending them to prolong it…. the villain watching the world he created, quite a fitting punishment from someone who understood quite a lot about cruelty.

Signing his life away was easy, Nathan felt like he’d been doing it for years. First Dad, then Linderman and finally GeneCo. Most people would have balked at losing their humanity, but Nathan knew he had lost his years ago. It was easy scrawling his name on the dotted line simply because he had nothing to live for anymore.

The first time Nathan met Marni he knew Rotti would never keep her. The woman was too good for the world in which she found herself. She was bright and beautiful and it made Nathan’s heart ache as he remember another bright soul, one he himself sullied with his lies, his lust and his evil. However, the first day Marni called his name, Nathan remembered what it was like to fly.

Mag and Nathan never agreed on anything and until her death it amused Marni to no end. “You two are like a pair of alley cats,” she used to tease. Sometimes they fought simply to see a smile cross their friend’s face. The day she died, both agreed that the world was a bit dimmer for having lost Marni Wallace.

Seeing Peter the first time in years-made Nathan weep, but with joy or pain he couldn’t tell. He felt like the day was his birthday and Christmas all in one. This young man was his life, his happiness and his soul all rolled into one. The horrors of the world fell away and Nathan felt like a young man in love again.

The end was like a fairy tale…from hell, slipping in blood Nathan struggled to shield Shiloh from prying eyes when he saw a ghost walking toward him. Those who were there said the two men and the girl stood staring at each other for a moment then they walked out the door and disappeared leaving the carnage behind them. It is said they became stars in the sky and one only has to look up to see hope in the air.
