Nathan: (Voice Over) Time is a funny thing, sometimes it can’t be moved, and other times it flows and changes with the speed of a river. But there are times when things happen that make no sense what so ever. Take me for example; I never dreamed that I’d die at the hands of a super powered serial killer.
[Flashes of a fight, sounds of someone screaming in pain and then someone laughing]
Nathan: But here is where the confusing part comes in, that wasn’t the first time I’d died, it was the second. Time seemed to like having me around…and if I thought death was the end of my story it wasn’t. Death was only the start of the greatest adventure of my life.
[As Nathan finishes speaking a fireball streaks across the sky, it hits the ground and resolves itself into the TARDIS looking a bit worse for wear, after a moment the Eleventh Doctor stumbles out still wearing the Tenth Doctor’s torn suit. He looks around, blinks and speaks]
Eleven: Well at least it’s not Edinburgh. [And on that note he passes out cold near a sign saying Coyote Sands Relocation Center as the theme music begins]

DOCTOR WHO
HEROES AND VILLIANS
BY
GODILOVESLASH
[A woman is walking down a road, dressed in jeans, worn t-shirt and cowboy boots, this is SARAH JOHNSON. She is an older woman who lives alone and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks about her. She enters the ruins of Coyote Sands and passes the TARDIS stopping a moment to breath in the air then he gaze falls on the Doctor still crumpled by the sign]
Sarah: [runs over and kneels on the ground] My goodness I didn’t think he was supposed to be here. [She turns the Doctor over and frowns] What…this isn’t the right one. [She stands back up looks around and then up at the sky where a streak of white can be seen. She follows it with her eyes and nods starting to walk in that direction. The Doctor stirring makes her stop and she returns to his side.]
Sarah: Easy there son you look like you had a nasty knock on the head.
[The Doctor groans and sits up shaking his head]
Doctor: Bit more than that I’m afraid. [He shakes his head again still unsettled by the sound of his new voice}
Listen I know this might sound odd and all but could you tell me what I look like?
Sarah: [gives him a puzzled look but answers the question anyway] You have dark hair, dark blue eyes and you seem tall but I can’t tell thanks to the fact that you are sitting down.
Doctor: [huffs but jumps to his feet] Thank you dear woman, and now might I ask where I am?
Sarah: [an understanding look comes over her face as she answers] Coyote Sands [But by now the Doctor isn’t listening, he’s turned around and walked back to the TARDIS, no dashing about for this Time Lord. He looks over his battered ship then gives it a pat]
Doctor: Alright old girl, I’ll leave you for a bit, but try to get some rest, will you? [He turns around to find Sarah heading toward one of the buildings and runs to catch up] Excuse me, I don’t think you answered my question. Where am I?
Sarah: [doesn’t slow down, she has a mission and the Doctor has already made her late] I told you this is Coyote Sands, it’s in Texas, you just weren’t listening Doctor.
Doctor: [The Time Lord reacts in surprise, how does this woman know who he is?] Uh what….how did you?
Sarah: [smiles] I’ll explain later; right now I need your help.
Doctor: My help with what? Why are you out here?
Sarah: I’m here because I was expecting someone and I found you instead, but it’s no bother at all.
Doctor: [puzzled but amused] Funny place to be meeting a friend isn’t it?
[The Doctor and Sarah reach the nearest building and its clear there has been some recent damage to it in the form of a huge hole in the roof and bits of wood and scattered everywhere]
Sarah: Oh he’s not a friend….at least not yet anyway. [She opens the screen door and waves the Doctor inside, in the dim light more damage can be seen, chairs are tossed, windows are blown out and two of the beds are completely destroyed. Sarah moves through the cabin like she knows what she is looking for and the Doctor simply looks around sensing something odd about the place]
Doctor: Something happened here….something dark and dangerous. [He starts poking around too and stumbles on a dead body. He kneels down and runs his hand over the man’s dark hair and black dust covered clothes]
Sarah: [snaps] Leave him be Doctor, that man is better off dead. [The Doctor takes a step back and closes his eyes]
Doctor: Time is swirling around in here like it’s gone mad….what is going on?
[Sarah isn’t listening, she’s at the other end of the room, kneeling near another dead body, and the Doctor opens his eyes and walks over to join her looking sadly at the body]
Doctor: Poor fellow looks like he’s been through hell and then some.
Sarah; [looks up her eyes filled with tears] Oh if only you knew Doctor, if only you knew.
[She leans back so that some sunlight falls on the other man’s face and the viewer can see its Nathan Petrelli his throat slit from ear to ear]
END OF ACT ONE
[The scene opens with the Doctor staring down at Nathan’s body in shock. Newly regenerated and he’s already faced with death, this does not bode well at all]
Doctor: Who was he?
Sarah: [softly] A man who made some mistakes, but he did his best to correct them.
Doctor: How did you know he was here?
[Sarah looks up at the trail of white in the sky as she begins to explain]
Sarah: Months ago I started having dreams, dreams of this place, of two men fighting and one of them dying all alone. [As she talks, flashes of Nathan’s face, and louder sounds of a fight and laughter cross the screen] I knew I was supposed to be here right now to help him.
[The sound of wood planks hitting the floor makes both Sarah and the Doctor jump and when they turn around a very familiar villain stumbles into the light]
Sylar: Too bad neither one of you is going to get that chance. [He flicks his hand and several wooden planks go flying, the Doctor dives for Sarah to protect her, but her hand is already up and the projectiles stop in mid air] Neat trick…but I’m afraid I already have that one.
Sarah: [smiles dangerously at him as she stands] I don’t think you do [She presses something on her wrist and her human face falls away to reveal she’s actually light green and catlike almost like the Navai from Avatar only not as tall and thin]
Doctor: Ahhhh a shimmer, everyone is wearing those these days, bit upsetting really, always having to unshimmer someone, but I like to know who I’m talking to, thanks much.
[Both Sylar and Sarah ignore the Doctor, which is good because it gives him a chance to hunt in his pockets for something while they talk and battle.
Sarah: You won’t get away with what you’ve done, time always protects her chosen and Hiro’s words will come true by year’s end.
[Sylar’s eyes narrow and he throws everything in the room at her that he can. While the battle rages, the focus turns to the Doctor as he hunts through his pockets madly and chats with Nathan’s body, the battle is flashed back to in quick cuts every once and a while.]
Doctor: Don’t get a moment's rest do I, save the world, die and regenerate and get flung back into adventure without a howdy do. Not that I mind you know but still, be nice to get a break, wouldn’t it? [He finds what he’s looking for as the battle comes to a head, it’s the sonic screwdriver looking a bit worse for wear, he yelps happily and points it at the broken roof, with a flash of sparks and another yelp, this time from Sarah, Sylar is buried under more wood]
Doctor: [waves Sarah over] Do you have a teleport?
Sarah: What?
Doctor: [Slowly] Do…you…have…a…teleport? I doubt our friend will wake up happy and I could do with a cup of tea.
Sarah: [nods and holds out her wrist as the Doctor points his sonic screwdriver at it with one hand and grabs Nathan with the other]
Doctor: Here we go! [And with a flash of light the three of them are gone]
[The scene is now Sarah’s house, a homey, simple place with handmade furniture, plants in every room and bits and bobs of an alien type scattered around the place. Sarah has changed back into her human form and the Doctor is settled in the chair opposite here, comfortable in his torn, dusty clothes for the moment. Both of them are sipping cups of tea and Nathan’s body is nowhere to be seen for the moment.]
Doctor: So if I’m understanding you correctly, which I’m sure I must be since I’m clever. You came here because your people told you Time said to?
Sarah: [nods] My people have a strong connection to the time stream and our beliefs tell us that when time speaks we listen…and time is strong in this area….you yourself have felt it yes?
Doctor: [nods] It was like time was trying to fix itself but it couldn’t. What I don’t understand is why?
Sarah: [sadly] It is because of Nathan, in every future my people have seen, he dies. We could see one or maybe two futures where this happens, but every single one is a bit odd.
Doctor: [nods] That is odd indeed…but I don’t see how we will be able to fix him this time.
Sarah: [smiles] Have faith Doctor, I have a few tricks up my sleeve yet.
[The scene fades out to a street near the diner set from “1961.” Sylar is walking along trying to get his bearings, when he sees a TV in a shop window. The news is on and a picture of Nathan is on the screen]
News Anchor: There is still no word on the fate of Senator Nathan Petrelli of New York. Despite being reported missing by his brother three days ago there has been no sign of the Washington golden boy. Police are not commenting on the case, but foul play is suspected.
[The news is cut off when the picture goes black and a mysterious figure appears on the screen. It addresses Sylar, who regards it with amused indifference.]
Figure: I am not pleased with your progress, Gabriel….he should be dead by now.
Sylar: He is dead….I made sure this time by doing it myself. A slit throat is hard to heal from.
Figure: [angry] We had an agreement, his life for yours….and he will not be staying dead long. The Doctor has found him.
Sylar: [shrugs] Whoever this Doctor is, he’s easily taken care of; I can do it after I kill the woman…cat thing. I want her power.
Figure: [furious] The Doctor is not a man to be trifled with, find him, kill them and you will have your reward….and not until then. [The news snaps back on and Sylar stalks off down the street intent on finding the Doctor and Sarah]
[The scene shifts back to Sarah’s home, her bedroom this time, where Nathan is cleaned up and lying on her bed. Stones of an alien shape surround the body, Sarah is on one side of the bed and the Doctor is on the other with a strange expression on his face]
Doctor: Are you sure this is wise? I’ve learned from experience that messing with time can be dangerous.
Sarah: [smiles] Doctor, you must have faith in time; she knows what to do for her chosen ones.
Doctor: That is the second time you’ve called someone a chosen one, what does that mean?
Sarah: [smiles again as she presses a button on her wrist band and reverts to her catlike form] Have faith Doctor…you will see and understand soon. [She lays her hand on Nathan’s forehead and starts’ humming a strange song as the Doctor looks on]
[The scene then alternates with Sylar looking for them through the town]
[Sarah begins to chant]
Sarah: Lady Time, protect your chosen man, keep him safe from the evil designed to murder him.
[A door flies open and a terrified group of police men aim their guns at Sylar as the scene switches to a police station]
Sylar: Sarah Johnson, where is she?
Sheriff: We aren’t telling you anything.
[The sound of gun shots fades into Sarah’s house where she is still chanting]
Sarah; Guide this man home for it is not his time.
[The Sheriff flies out the open door and into the street dead]
Sylar: Thank you, you’ve been very helpful. [He walks off down the street then takes off into the air]
[The stones around Nathan’s body have begun to glow]
Sarah: Return, brother of time, return to your home.
[There is a bright flash just as the front door to Sarah’s home flies open, Nathan sits up as Sylar storms into the bedroom]
Sylar: Did you miss me?
END OF ACT TWO
[The scene opens with all hell breaking loose, Sylar goes for Nathan, Sarah flings a jar at him but he shatters it with a burst of radiation, the Doctor points his sonic screwdriver at him but Sylar flings it away and Nathan rolls off the bed trying to protect himself long enough to think]
Nathan: [yells at the Doctor] Thanks for the rescue but what the hell is going on here?
Doctor: [groping about for his sonic screwdriver] She’s the one in charge for now, ask her. [Nathan looks over sees Sarah is busy fighting Sylar and decides that isn’t a good idea, so he does the next best thing, he jumps up, leaps at Sylar in a flat fly and pins the serial killer to the wall]
Nathan: Why the hell won’t you die? [Sylar tries to flip him but Nathan has the upper hand and the battle continues for a moment as the focus shifts to Sarah and the Doctor]
Sarah: Help him, Doctor!
Doctor: [looks at her stunned that she has seemed to miss the fact that Nathan just flew across the room] Did you….and he….he bloody flew, humans aren’t supposed to be able to do that.
Sarah: [gives the Doctor a swift slap] Focus…he needs help and he needs it now. You’re clever so think of something!
Doctor: [Looks around the room talking to himself] Clever, clever, clever that’s me, regeneration must have scrambled my brains.
[Nathan is tossed back by Sylar and smashes into a dresser hearing the last part of that sentence]
Nathan: [panting] I think both of you have scrambled brains. Can I please have a little help before I die again? [The Doctor finds his screwdriver and lifts it up]
Doctor: Ah Ha. [kisses it while Sarah and Nathan stare at him]
Sarah/Nathan: [together] DO SOMETHING WOULD YOU, BEFORE WE DIE!
Doctor: [his eye lands on one of Sarah’s jars and something clicks in his head] Die….of course [points the sonic screwdriver at one of the jars and makes it bubble before turning to Nathan] How many people can you carry at one time?
Nathan: [is watching a struggling Sylar try to free himself from a smashed bit of door] I’ve only ever carried one person before, why?
[Sylar gets up and starts walking around the bed, the Doctor watching him the whole time]
Doctor: I suppose I’ll have to modify my original plan then, on the count of three duck and cover. One…two….three!
[As Sylar comes around to face them, the Doctor points his sonic at the jar and its contents explode all over Sylar getting into his hair and his eyes. Sarah gets the idea and hauls both the Doctor and Nathan to their feet. All three make a mad dash for the door and keep running once they are outside]
Nathan; What now?
Sarah: Follow me, we can regroup at Coyote Sands.
[The three of them dash out of shot just as a dye covered Sylar comes stumbling out of the house]
Sylar: This isn’t over, Petrelli, not by a long shot.
[The scene switches to night as Sarah, the Doctor and Nathan stumble to the TARDIS and collapse in the dirt]
Nathan: And….I…thought…my…life…was…weird before. [He leans against the TARDIS and yelps when he gets a shock] Ow…..what the hell?
Doctor: Oh sorry, that’s my ship, she had a bit of a crash earlier and she’s still repairing herself, so she’s a bit cranky.
Nathan: [stares at the TARDIS] Your ship has feelings? [The Doctor nods and Nathan sighs looking up at the star filled sky] Of course it does.
Doctor: [watches Nathan] Would you mind explaining something to me? [Nathan nods] How is it that you….a human…can fly?
Nathan: [does a double take at the human bit, but says nothing] It all started on the day of a solar eclipse, people like my brother and I just woke up with powers and since then we’ve been saving the world over and over again from people like Sylar, the man who has been chasing us,…he’s a power collector.
[The Doctor and Sarah simply sit and listen as Nathan talks]
Nathan: Three days ago, things came to a head and Sylar and I flew out here to get him away from anyone he could hurt.
[The scene switches to the cabin just after, Sylar and Nathan crash through the roof. Nathan jumps up and picks up a sharp piece of wood]
Nathan: Get up you bastard, get up and let’s finish this.
[Sylar stumbles to his feet and flings a spike of metal at Nathan, who smirks]
Nathan: Fool me once [He charges Sylar who flings Nathan back]
Sylar: You were saying?
[Nathan struggles to his feet, but before he can make another charge, Sylar pins Nathan to the wall]
Sylar: You and your worthless brother don’t get it, I will always win…there is nothing you can do to stop me. [He swiftly slits Nathan’s throat, but as Nathan dies there is a blast of wind and Sylar flies back into a cabinet with a crash and Nathan drops to the floor dying and the scene fades back to the TARDIS at night and Sarah reaches out to touch Nathan’s shoulder]
Sarah: All you’ve ever tried to do is the right thing Nathan Petrelli and I promise you all you’ve suffered will make sense one day. [The Doctor smiles in sympathy]
Doctor: But I still can’t understand why people should be able to fly and throw things with their mind…. It’s like the whole universe is out of wack or something
[The Doctor flashes back to the Ood Elder during the End of Time]
Ood Elder: You should have not delayed, Doctor…. It all changes now.
Doctor: THAT’S IT! [He jumps up and starts pacing about thinking.] When the Time Lords came through they sent time in a tizzy and time is trying to fix it by jump starting evolution.
Nathan: How does that fix anything?
Doctor: I’m not sure yet, but it created you and others like you and things only you can battle are coming through. Sylar is just one example of this.
Nathan: [sighs] So how do we stop him?
Doctor: The only person who can kill Sylar is the one person he keeps trying to do away with. [He looks pointedly at Nathan] You.
END OF ACT THREE
[The scene opens on Nathan looking at the Doctor with a ‘Is that all you are going to tell me’ expression on his face]
Nathan: Look I have no idea why you two decided to help me but it would be nice if you told me something I don’t already know. People have been trying to kill me since I learned I could fly almost a year and a half ago. My brother, my mother, some insane immortal and now Sylar, they’ve all tried. My brother even succeeded until he kissed me and I woke up again. [His voice is rising as Nathan struggles to deal with the stress of the last few days] Granted I’m not the nicest person in the world, but I am sick and tried of people yanking me around like I’m some sort of damm puppet. [Nathan stands up and stares at Sarah and the Doctor] So if you are going to tell me something useful that’s great, but if not, both of you can just leave me the hell alone. [Without another word, Nathan stalks off toward one of the cabins and Sarah looks at the Doctor]
Doctor: That didn’t end up well did it?
Sarah: [shakes her head and makes a gesture at Nathan’s retreating back] Go after him Doctor and offer him something to hope for.
[The Doctor gives her an annoyed look]
Doctor: You know I hate it when people know more than I do, I’m just nice enough not to say anything about it.
[Sarah laughs and gestures after Nathan again]
Sarah: I told you Doctor one day all of this will be explained, now get going.
[The Doctor stands and walks off, muttering to himself]
Doctor: Now I remember why I don’t like cats.
[Sarah’s soft laughter carries into the next scene, which reveals Sylar sitting outside her destroyed house. He is currently using a very blue towel to scrub the last of the dye out of his hair, when music starts playing and he looks around confused. After a moment, he digs in his pocket and digs out a cell phone playing the Doctor Who theme song as a ring tone]
Sylar: Hello?
[The mysterious figure from earlier answers, clearly displeased with Sylar and his actions]
Figure: You have let me down, Gabriel perhaps I should take back what I offered you?
[Sylar considers this before he starts laughing coldly]
Sylar: I have what I need to stay alive; you can leave any time you want. I don’t need you anymore.
Figure: Oh how little you know Gabriel, without me your life would go back to the way it was when I found you. You would be dead. But you know what you have to do to make our little arrangement perfect. Finish off Nathan Petrelli and what I promised you shall be yours.
Sylar: [nod even though he knows the figure can’t see him] Trust me I want him dead as badly as you do. Maybe even more.
Figure: You have no idea. [A soft chuckle] Finish him and the Doctor, you will find them not far from here at the place where you arrived. [There is a click and Sylar tucks the phone in his pocket and takes off into the air]
[The scene shifts to the Doctor moving toward a very tense and clearly angry Nathan, who is staring up at the stars]
Nathan: I thought I told you to leave me alone.
Doctor: You did, but I’m not the type to just sit by and let a person suffer alone.
Nathan: [Amused] Sarah sent you over here didn’t she?
Doctor: [slightly embarrassed] Yes [Nathan laughs]
Nathan: She’s a tough woma…uh cat. Reminds me of my ex wife.
Doctor: [smiles and reaches out to touch Nathan’s shoulder] You’ll have to tell me the story sometime, but for now we have bigger issues at hand.
Nathan: [angry] Don’t you get it…..Sylar always wins, no matter what we do, no matter how hard we fight, he wins. There is nothing we or I can do to stop him. He can move his off switch now.
Doctor: Off switch? I thought he was human?
Nathan: He is…in a sense. He gained the power to heal from any injury from my daughter Claire. But even she has a weakness, if you shove something sharp into her head in a certain spot, she stays dead until you pull it out. Only Sylar claims he moved his and no one knows where it is.
Doctor: [His face lights up] Or he’s bluffing… [Nathan leans in to listen] Think about it, Sarah and I faced him earlier and he never turned his back to us, nor did he do so at the house. If he had truly moved his off switch as you said….
Nathan: [his face lights up too] He wouldn’t be afraid to turn his back to us.
Doctor: Right! So all we have to do is…. [a high pitched scream comes from off camera and both men turn around and start running back the way they came] Talk about this later, come on!
[The scene quickly switches back to the TARDIS area were Sylar has Sarah pinned against the ship, she is bruised and beaten as if the they had been fighting for a while. Nathan looks about ready to fly right at Sylar until the Doctor stops him and whispers something into his ear. Nathan nods as the Doctor walks forward]
Doctor: Funny name Sylar, kind of trips over your tongue doesn’t it. Sylar, Sylar, Sylar. [He keeps walking forward this time humming Sylar under his breath to a conga beat. And yes he’s doing a little dance too]
Sylar: [turns his head around so that the back of his head is facing Sarah and speaks] Is there a point to this?
Doctor: [stops dancing and grins wickedly] Of course there is…..I have a soft spot for villains you know. Always want to get into their heads, way in the back to see what really makes them tick.
{While the Doctor has been talking, Nathan has used the shadows to lift into the air and fly to the TARDIS, where he sneaks around to Sarah’s side and presses something into her hand, whispering into her ear. He also carefully loosens Sarah from Sylar’s grip by gripping her hips and pulling gently but firmly downward]
Sylar: I don’t know who you are, but I’m going to enjoy killing you, even if it’s just to shut you up.
Doctor: [Mock surprise] I didn’t introduce myself….how rude. [He bows] I am the Doctor.
Sylar: The Doctor? Doctor who?
Doctor: [Annoyed] Just the Doctor thank you.
Sylar: Well Doctor, I’d love to chat, but I’m a bit busy so if you wouldn’t mind waiting a second.
Doctor: Oh no bother, I’m almost done with you myself if you wouldn’t mind tilting your head to the left a bit.
Sylar: Why on earth would I do that?
Sarah: [Slams the wooden spike Nathan gave her right into the back of Sylar’s brain] Because it gives me time to do this.
[Sylar drops like a stone as Nathan comes around the TARDIS in a fury]
Nathan: You lose Sylar and you always will.
END OF ACT FOUR
[The scene shifts to day time, Sarah and Nathan are finishing putting dirt on Sylar’s grave in the background, while the Doctor stands in front of his repaired TARDIS]
Doctor: Alright old girl, show me what you’ve got. [He enters the TARDIS to see a wide open space with white walls, bright lighting and open doors to each room. The console is brighter too and the light inside it is a dark blue then it was last time. The Doctor looks around nodding in pleasure]
Doctor: Well done, well done, now I think it’s time for me to choose a new outfit don’t you?
[The door to the wardrobe slides open as the scene switches to the outside of the TARDIS and Nathan and a now human again Sarah]
Nathan: He went in there? It’s just a little blue box. [Sarah laughs and gives Nathan a nudge as the door suddenly pops open and they go inside.]
Nathan: [looks around in wonder] Hiro would love this place. It’s…..
Doctor/Nathan: Bigger on the inside.
[The Doctor pops out of a door way dressed in his new outfit, a tweed jacket, boots, pink checkered shirt, pink bow tie and jeans]
Doctor: I get that a lot, so…..can I interest you in a trip?
Nathan: A what? [Sarah chuckles amused and leans over]
Sarah: This ship can go anywhere you want.
[The Doctor gives her an annoyed look]
Doctor: I was getting to that thank you, but yes this ship goes anywhere in time and space.
[Nathan looks excited despite his age and everything he’s seen and done. Sarah just shakes her head]
Sarah: As much as I would like to Doctor I think I’ll take a pass. I’m needed here to keep an eye on things.
[Nathan looks sad and walks over to give Sarah a long hug]
Nathan: I know this may seem, small compared to everything you’ve done for me, but thank you….thank you so much.
Sarah: [smiles and hugs Nathan back] It’s not small at all Nathan and I promise you we will see each other again. [She leans over and whispers something into his ear; he looks surprised but pleased at what she said as Sarah walks over to hug the Doctor]
Sarah: Watch over this one Doctor, Time isn’t finished with him yet.
[She walks out of the TARDIS waving a final goodbye, once the door has shut behind her the Doctor turns to Nathan]
Doctor: What did she tell you Nathan?
Nathan: [grins] That’s for me to know and you to find out Doctor. [He runs up the ramp to the console] So you said something about a trip?
[The Doctor laughs]
Doctor: I can tell you are going to be trouble. [He slams his hand down on the brake and the TARDIS starts up as the ending theme fades in.]
NEXT TIME ON DOCTOR WHO
[Nathan and the Doctor pop their heads out of the TARDIS]
Doctor: Welcome to Victorian England!
[A beautiful young woman curtsies to Nathan and he bows back]
Nathan: I just met Queen Victoria; you have got to be kidding me.
Doctor: Be careful she doesn’t have much of a sense of humor.
[The Doctor brandishes a sliver cross at something off screen]
[Nathan and the woman run down a hallway]
[There is a quick cut to one of the Weeping Angels]
[Nathan and Prince Albert stand watching the young woman]
Nathan: Why would they want her?
Prince Albert: I don’t know.
[Nathan is backed up against the wall in a dark room]
Nathan: IF YOU WANT TO FEAST ON SOMETHING, FEAST ON ME!
[A freeze frame on the Weeping Angel its fangs bared and the screen goes black]
