Why is it that, as soon as I finish the latest bunch of visits to assorted doctors and hospitals, I fall ill? Things seem to be conspiring to keep the beginning of my holidays entirely not-fun. And in keeping with this conspiracy, I am not-amused.
Dad got the flu last Friday. I had my blood tests on Friday, visit to the American Hospital on Monday for X-rays and a meeting with my surgeon, and by Monday evening I was a trifle under the weather. A couple of really miserable days later, I don't feel as if I want to take ten sleeping pills just to be unaware of my body while it works - painfully - through its issues, but sympathy is still a necessity. ;-)
Have fallen in love with the series Midsomer Murders - love John Nettles in it, and David Casey (D-S Troy) is hilariously predictable. Finally saw the episode with Orlando Bloom in it. It was completely unexpected, as I had no idea even what year he had appeared in the series. He was very good in it, though, rather like an entirely unprincipled Joe Byrne. I admit - I indulged in complete fangirlishness... *sigh*
Got the second half of season 3 of C.S.I today - yay, more Warrick and Grissom! *loves all over C.S.I*
Was supposed to be seeing Eugénie tonight, but I still feel grotty enough that I'd be extremely bad company.Tis alright, will see her tomorrow. Am very interested by her corset! She says it's very hot and uncomfortable, and I can't imagine how bad it must be for her in particular to be complaining, since she loves corsets as a general rule. I can't believe it's been a month since she fell - she got the staples out of her back last week, and she says the scar is beginning to look less Frankenstein's monster-esque.
In other news, we got letters from both Eliza and Jo today - mum wouldn't leave me alone until I'd read them both. It was very nice to hear from sister, and I like Jo's writing very much. Mum's now upset that sister told her not to write to Jo when she first wanted to. Seems like there always has to be something, neh? She seems quite calm though since she and Eliza talked on msn yesterday. First time in ages that they've communicated in any way without both coming away stroppy/sad/angry. Am very pleased. Life is so much easier when I don't have to take sides!
Oh, Liza, Ruby's here and wants to give you cuddles. Or else he just really wants food. He's being all purry and cute. Have to go give him snuggles now! I love cats...
Kenzie still pretends to be all innocent: walks up to Ruby, licks his forehead (as an aside: so cute!), then proceeds to bite his neck. We tell him to stop, he goes back to the *licklicklick*, we settle back on our seats, *bite*. Prettiness...
