Argh. Computer has been behaving very badly lately - turning itself off without warning, internet working sporadically, so if I seem to have been ignoring you, it hasn't been intentional! Should be fixed on Tuesday. I hope.

Very evil. Like, über evil. And I think part of the problem may be the past applications of "hammer, meet computer" approach.

Ahhh, I can see this might be a little bit of an issue there. They tend not to take hammers too well unless they are already completely knackered.

Actually, we called a technician, computer is dead in the water, and we now have a shiny new laptop that is beauteous and works. I'm being kicked off it because it's so shiny everyone wants it. ;-)
