It's been a stressful few days. Classes started Monday, and though they were all of the introductory type, I can already see that this will be a busy year. Lots and lots of background reading to be done, lots to be done in groups (which I usually loathe, as not only do I tend to work better on my own, I also very rarely have the same working hours ( Read more... )

Aww, poor you. What a pickle - you could always skive that particular class and go to belly dancing anyway? :-D

The crash sounds a bit traumatic, hope you're not too scarred. I sends Big hug Edinburghwards...

Forgive me for being stupid, but what was your course in exactly? I have the idea that it's publishing, but don't shout if I've got it wrong - I am a wee bit scatty, we know this!

Fancy coming to the Harry Potter Premier in London on Nov 6th? There are plans to attend, in costume and everything!

Also, keep Oct 22nd free, if you can get down to Londinium, as we're having a Pirates& Wenches Party - would love to have you stay if you can possibly make it. More info to follow...

Unfortunately, skiving really is not an option on this course - and I'd be skiving a three hour workshop to boot, which would be not sensible! (At least it's a great workshop - all about editing and commissioning books and proofreading...)

Hugs are much appreciated. I think it was just at the wrong time and I was not in the right frame of mind to deal with anything the least bit traumatic. Am a bit better now, have come out to the pissy side of not being able to deal, which is slightly better than the weeping.

;-)My course is in publishing - I have a lot on business, marketing, editing, desktop publishing (computers), as well as printing and everything else to do with books/magazines. It's actually really interesting so far, even the computer stuff. We have to work on Apples, which is fun.

Will see how things go, but definitely want to see you soon!

Love and hugs, Zoe

The school bus I was on crashed once and I remember feeling really shaky and weepy for a while afterwards, even though (as far as I know) no-one was seriously hurt. Odd how these things affect you...

Hope you're feeling more smiley today :-)

Yeah... I'm a bit better today - not really up to dealing with a lot of people, but that might be that I've had to be introducing myself for the past couple of weeks, which is really tiring. And I don't really know why I was so shocked yesterday, but there was nothing to do but wait out the whole crying jag. Sigh. I hope the man is okay...

Poor Zozo. :( I'm sorry it is not a happy making time right now. Feel free to call though to chat. You will figure something out for belly dancing - you are very creative that way. :) *hug*

Indeed. Might try again next week about belly dancing. Otherwise, I guess I'll just have to hope that next term will have a better timetable!

Miss you sister mine. Love, moi
P.S.: am now on msn ;-)

Doesn't sound good, lecturer's changing things is never a good thing and it always seems to be annoying. Also, it some way I also feel bad that you can't go belly dancing as well, though obviously because of the fact that when you're doing something complicated, than having activities that you want to do available to relax into are very important... honestly.

I'm already feeling my free time disappear. Today is my second day at school and my mentor has handed me off two class loads of marking to do for him. Obviously this is ok though as I have a week to do it, so thats not so bad. However, does mean this weekend I have work to do already and I haven't even got into the realms of planning my own lessons.

Anyway, huggles from Huddersfield. Do hope it all fits into place for you soon.

Thank you for the sympathy - I really was quite crushed about the belly dancing. After all, Scottish dancing is all well and good, but the music is nowhere near as, well, vital as Arabic. Not to mention the utter lack of instinct involved in Scottish.

And I know what you mean about the lack of free time - I've got over 100 pages photocopied to read by Monday, spent four hours in the library doing research this afternoon (after a three hour workshop on computer stuff that I'm alternately not understanding at all and breezing through with no problems), and I also have an assignment this weekend that involves going around bookshops in Edinburgh and comparing displays and deals etc. This is a cool assignment, but my weekend is suddenly not "free time". /whining

When do you have to start on your lessons? Hope it's not too soon!
Hugs, Zoe

Well I'm making sure I take the advice of my lecturers and setting some days aside for not doing work on, today being one of them. It means I have more to do on my actual working days, but gives me something to look forward to and a break away from my work.

As for teaching, I should be doing a couple of lessons a week by December, so it is fairly soon. However, I get the feeling there might be some move by my school mentor to get me doing that a lot sooner. Don't know though, will have to see.

I think days off are extremely beneficial - and I fully intend to figure out which day can be safely set aside for this task as soon as possible! I'd have thought Saturdays would be a safe bet, but I might have more assignments such as the one I had to complete today: going around bookshops and taking notes on their layouts/discounts etc. My bank account hates my lecturers... ;-)
