He had finally done it. Aizen Sousuke, the Lord of Heaven. He smiled down from his throne into the darkness, watching as his servants brought forth the great stone sarcophagus that would bring him the one thing that he could not rule without. Granting lives was simple now that he was a god; he could do entirely as he pleased, and the King's Realm ( Read more... )

As Gin was pulled back to conscious living, the spirit particles of his body coalescing and forming once more, he became aware of many things all at once.

The first and most important of these was the stone box that was pulling irrevocably on his soul, tugging him down and trying to trap him inside. Never being one to follow someone else's path when he was being forced, he exerted his rapidly returning will and pulled away from there.

He would come back to life, but it would be under his own terms.

So as Aizen lifted the lid of the sarcophagus he would find it empty, because the supposed resident was now laying naked and panting behind the throne.

Aizen straightened at what he saw. The box was empty? How? They had done this several times before to test it, ensuring that it really did work before attempting it on Gin. To find that the box was empty was the worst possible disappointment. He had longed to have Gin return to him, and now, faced with the reality that he hadn't, Aizen only trembled, gripping the edge. What was the point of being god if you couldn't bring people back to life?

"Stubborn fool," he whispered, into the emptiness, misery lacing his words. "Can't you obey a single order?"

He sighed, sinking down against the box, pulling his hands over his head.

It took Gin another few minutes before he had regained enough control and sense of self to stand, unashamed of his nakedness as he padded silently from behind the throne.

It was strange to see Aizen so undone, and he wondered if he often behaved this way in private. The words resonated through the room, making Gin's trademark grin hitch into place.

"An' what order m'I s'pposed ta be obeyin'?"

Aizen started at the sound of Gin's voice, lifting his eyes and staring up at him. How...? No, it was a ghost. Or his imagination. He's surely, finally, gone completely insane.

He stood up, slowly, pushing his hand absently back through his hair and looking at Gin quietly.

"You aren't real."
