The first and most important of these was the stone box that was pulling irrevocably on his soul, tugging him down and trying to trap him inside. Never being one to follow someone else's path when he was being forced, he exerted his rapidly returning will and pulled away from there.
He would come back to life, but it would be under his own terms.
So as Aizen lifted the lid of the sarcophagus he would find it empty, because the supposed resident was now laying naked and panting behind the throne.

"Stubborn fool," he whispered, into the emptiness, misery lacing his words. "Can't you obey a single order?"
He sighed, sinking down against the box, pulling his hands over his head.

It was strange to see Aizen so undone, and he wondered if he often behaved this way in private. The words resonated through the room, making Gin's trademark grin hitch into place.
"An' what order m'I s'pposed ta be obeyin'?"
