I've had the same thoughts. Glad to see I'm not the only one. :)

Not sure every invention has truly been as beneficial as we think it is. I wonder if the more we invent and get away from God's design how far we're really getting away from the best for us.

Also don't agree with RW completely. The idea that we must use secular means to grow our church is contrary to Scripture. And while he says some things, some Biblical things even, he misuses verses to support it instead of using the right verses. The Message, his pet version, is blatantly skewed and a question of a New Age connection has been raised.

I think there is a lot more New age implications in RW's Purpose driven literature than meets the eye.
He most certainly is into it and he has connections with some of the most prominent New Age leaders.

A good book to read is "Deceived On Purpose" by Warren Smith

The reason I feel RW is so dangerous is because he is getting New Age into conservative Christian churches and nobody realizes it because everything is so subtle.

God Bless

Indeed, it does seem so much harder to hear God than it use to back when these things weren't present so much. No light but a candle use to encourage people to go to bed early and be up early enough to spend "quiet time" with God before the start of their day. I think without electricity people were encouraged to meditate and think on God more...

Thanks for sharing, some thought provoking thoughts there. Circumstance may have changed, but 200 years ago, people would sit up late with the gas lights on. People would go out to plays, concerts, etc. until late at night. I think the struggle is really still the same in everybody's life. True, there are more distractions today. Especially with the internet.

I really like your last statement. :) I would love to have a totally quiet house in the mornings for the first couple hours so that I could "love my Lord" without any distractions. As it is, I usually am the only one in my family to get up early, but I find that it's such a strengthening and invigorating time of the day that I just can ( ... )

I'm glad to hear you have an early quiet-time like that. I think if all Christians practiced this, we would have a much stronger Christianity today.
