Finally, I was wondering when things would get interesting.

It's important that I talk to Basch, pronto. Oh, and any doctor too! That is all.

chip, jockey, ride a chocobo, calling a doctor, up to no good

Ha-Haruhi. Why are you looking for a doctor?

Wh-Wh-Wh-Why?! Why do you want to do that?

There are absolutely no benefits to getting it removed! None! That's the stupidest idea I've ever heard!

Of course there is! Think about it, it suppresses our abilities and I'm going to need every ounce of ability I got real soon.

And other stuff too.

You're perfectly fine!

Haruhi, you don't need to remove your chip. You know it's dangerous. What if something goes wrong? What if you end up dying again?

Don't you understand?!

Life in Discedo had been pretty decent. Sure, his life was in danger from time to time, but it hadn't been so bad. He had a place to stay and enough food for him to survive.

But when Haruhi said she wanted her chip removed, life suddenly wasn't so sunshiny anymore. He couldn't possibly tell her why it wasn't a good idea. If Miss Nagato ended up arriving in Discedo, he'd be screwed! He wasn't supposed to tell her unless the situation was drastic. Unfortunately, it the situation was merely things returning to normal, much to Kyon's dismay.

If Haruhi became irritated and created a closed space, who would fight the Shinjin? There weren't any espers here, were there? The one time Kyon actually needed Koizumi, he was nowhere to be found!

Kyon tightly gripped his communicator and set it on the SOS Brigade's table.

"Listen, Haruhi," he began. What next? What could he say to convince her not to remove her chip? "Wouldn't it be better if you won the Chocobo race with suppressed abilities? I mean, that'd show everyone how badass you are,

[Complaining, always complaining. She didn't understand why Kyon was so worked up.

Haruhi sat across from him on the table looking down at her device laying there. Damnit, still none from any doctors. Her index finger tabs repeatedly just waiting. Of course, her eyes lifts up meeting Kyon's irritated. Obviously she didn't agree fully.]

"What are you talking about, don't you want to give it all you got?" [Haruhi began as she motions a wave of of her hand.]

Kyon groaned―inwardly, of course―and stared at Haruhi. What was he supposed to do? It felt like he himself was playing god instead of Haruhi.

"Haruhi, I know that even if I did get my chip removed that I wouldn't win that thing. I'm average at what I do at best." He sighed and glanced away from her. Honestly, she should have realized he was completely normal by now.

What was worse, it looked like Haruhi's irritation was already growing. This was not a great start to having a peaceful life if Haruhi were to remove her chip.

"And you're so talented, I'm sure you could win without removing your chip. You don't need to remove it to win anything. You've always gotten your way, pretty much, in case you haven't realized."

[Haruhi eyes back to her device in front of her impatiently. Again, this time an annoying look, not the answer she wanted to hear.]

"But still," she begins as she lifts her gaze to Kyon. "Why bother chipping us if we don't have any weird powers? Isn't that suspicious enough?"

Oh, great! Now she actually thought she had magical powers! Well. She was right, but that was kind of bad. Really bad.

Kyon placed his hands on her shoulders, resisting the urge to strangle her. Anything to distract her.

"Haruhi. Does it look like we have supernatural powers? I mean, it's not like you magically get them by ending up here. When have I ever shown even a hint of being superhuman?"

[Just that little bit of hope she wanted it to believe.

Haruhi sat there glancing to the side where one of his hands rests as she lookis up to him. Seriously, what the hell was wrong with him? Just, shouting 'normal' irritates her enough. Haruhi pushes herself up from the chair.]

"Kyon, just shut up." [Was all she could say there. Why were they there?] "Aren't you curious about this at all?"

She did it again. That irritated face of hers―damn she was pissed―and her standoffish posture sent a shiver down his spine.

The thing was, she wasn't normal. As much as Haruhi wanted to believe she was special, she could never find out. At least, not any time soon.

He remembered that day he and Haruhi were walking home from school. The way she recounted the day her father took her to a baseball game and how she realized her life was insignificant... He didn't want her to feel that way again.

"Haruhi..." His voice was quieter than he'd meant it to be. Haruhi, you're not normal. You're a god! You can do practically anything you want to! It's what he wanted to tell her. But he couldn't.

Kyon was running out of words. "Haruhi, I am curious. But not so much as to put your life in danger again. I still feel guilty about what happened that day, when you..."

He stood up and shook his head fiercely, and he placed his hands on her shoulders again. "You know, you are special. People do appreciate you. I appreciate you, if... that means ( ... )
