This is exactly what I needed after waking up from a nightmare! A very nice, peaceful snapshot of Lupin family life after the war. :) I love Teddy's bedtime ritual.
This meme is too tempting with all of you guys doing it, but I really don't have the time! I might have to adjust it for my own abilitiess. lol
Nightmares seem to have been in the air last night! I'm glad this little post of fluff was good to wake up to.
Don't feel pressured to do the meme, it's just a bit of fun. Though it's been an interesting and rather freeing exercise to sit down to just write and post, rather than working to perfect something for a bigger idea.
Really? Mine was really pathetic to be considered a nightmare, involving traffic and about 20 overpasses. Now we were ramping between said overpasses, and then lost Ter in our convoy... LOL
Too late!
I actually did the whole prompt thing with no direction for a little while, only I gave myself the prompts which is where most of that list comes from. I just didn't have any specific reason to finish them, so I didn't.
"a young and beautiful wife who whispers of her love in the dark and shouts it in the light. "
I imagine Remus' inability to put into words how he feels about fatherhood, would stay with him throughout his life (His long life in AU, of course). He would never take for granted his wife and child and the wonderment he feels would be as fresh and poignant in the far future as in the present.
I can't imagine Remus ever not finding fatherhood and husbanddom just a bit amazing. However much I might try to detach myself as a shipper, it's just so likely that it's something he's never imagined for himself and yet, here he is, living it in happily ever after AU land. ;)
I've been saving this as my last, before-bedtime read, and it doesn't disappoint...
It's so nice to read Remus revelling in being both husband and father, and still never for one second taking any of it for granted. I love the idea of Teddy in the bath echoing what he's seen during the day with his morphs, while his mum takes off her magic like we do make-up. And I like the part about George and Kingsley, which is a timely reminder of both suffering and progress in the post-war era.
My favourite line was the one drumher highlighted, but I did love the humour of They forego the rubber duck... LOL.
Thank you very much! This was my first foray into the realm of AU, and I may be a bit addicted, lol, it was a lot of fun to write them happy as a family, and unshamedly pulling in other characters, such as George, for the post-war angst value. ;) It's given me some ideas, which I'm looking forward to having the time to think about when I've completed the 264 other fics I'm working on! Thanks again for the lovely comments. :)
This just made me grin over and over again, seeing Remus being a wonderful father and enjoying his family so much, plus seeing Remus and Tonks so happy together as well.
I like the parallels between the different senses of bedtime, and was going to mention the forgoing the rubber duck, too. ;)
The description of George with his bright voice and dull eyes is really vivid -- a lot gets communicated there in a few effective words.
