[Compile] Light, Rangiku, Rem, Yoruichi

As much as Rem had wanted to tag after Amane Misa, there was one place Rem would not follow the blonde girl. The bathroom? No, Rem would follow her there, if need be. Even though Rem never really had to use the bathroom, she still respected Misa's privacy and would stand somewhere else. Rem followed Misa pretty much anywhere. It wasn't like Rem had anything better to do.

But the one place Rem refused to go to with Misa was a modeling shoot. The bright flashes of light, the photographer shouting catcalls... it seemed like a stupid event for small-minded people. And, from what Rem has seen, Misa wasn't really the smartest individual. Too interested in material things than the things that really mattered, like clothes and landing the big role in an upcoming movie.

Flying idly above the people, Rem swooped down when she spotted a smartly dressed teenager. He was good-looking as well, which intrigued Rem; usually smart-dressed teenagers were either nerdy or not pleasing to look like (and that's why they dressed smartly). Of course, the scowl on the young man's face turned his features ugly, and a glance at his lifespan revealed the name to Rem - Yagami Light.

A blood curdling scream rent the air worthy of any horror scream queen, Rangiku's book forgotten and dropped to the ground as the white mummified looking creature made its way into the vicinity.

That was no hollow. Not at all. It looked way too human to be one and it sort of hovered there like some diseased overgrown butterfly.

Whatever the hell it was, it was enough to make the blonde scream like a sissy girl.

For once, Yoruichi ditched the cat-disguise, opting, instead, for her usual getup of orange and black. Her overall appearance would garner an odd look or two from passerbys, especially the more curious ones, but then again, it wasn't like she bothered very much about them.

What she was actually bothering about, was one Urahara Kisuke, who seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth, or something equally troublesome.

Most inconvenient, really, especially when Yoruichi had urgent matters to convey. If Aizen was already moving, then they had no time to waste. The entire fiasco with the strange, powerful beings had set her teeth on the edge, and the confines of those itchy clothes were definitely not helping, either. Ah, heck. She would probably kick his perverted ass when she found him; that would probably help things along nicely.

Her ears pricking up at the sound of a scream - it sounded eerily like one particular Vice-Captain - the dark skinned woman took off in that direction. Coming to a stop not too far away from Matsumoto, she stopped in her tracks and looked up at the sky. More specifically, at the thing that was currently hovering in the sky.

The Shihouin heiress's brilliant gold eyes narrowed as she surveyed the creature. There was no mistake as to the thing's nature, but really, why were all these things coming out of the woodwork suddenly? First Aizen's creations, and then this.

The need for air, eventually quelled Rangiku's screaming. Her hand came up to her now raspy throat as her heart tried to still itself and her mind tried to banish the terrifying apparition with no avail.

It was then the blonde noticed the exiled Onmitsu Kidou leader. Her hand came away as she looked at the woman. "You see that thing too?"

Whirling around at the scream, Light very quickly noiced five things:
1. There was a giant, horrific, mummified flying-thing almost directly behind him
2. There was a screaming woman across the street
3. There was another woman dressed weirdly in orange and black with her
4. They were both obviously looking at the creature behind him
5. Everyone else was giving the two women weird looks, meaning they could not see the creature as could he.

More than mildly alarmed himself, but not so set off-balance as to scream, Light went over to the two women, curious. Perhaps he could extract more information from these two...

"Relax," Light murmured. "That thing... can't hurt you. Or rather, I don't think it will..."

It was a shinigami, Light realized with disbelief as he tried to help the woman regain her composure, murmuring soothing words, hoping his own undaunted demeanor would spread over to her. The creature was definitely a shinigami, but how could he see it, if he hadn't touched another death note...?

Light nearly smirked to himself when he put it together. It had to be his eyes.

Inwardly grateful for the fact that the pretty Vice-Captain had finally gotten a grip on herself, Yoruichi simply nodded. The thing was hovering in mid-air, and reminded her of the other killer shinigami she had seen a good few days back, before all hell decided to break loose and Aizen decided to send a couple of his minions down.

Now it seemed like someone else had decided to sic killer shinigami on them, too.

The words 'Of course' was about to be spoken when her attention was drawn to a boy she found rather familiar. The kid with the shinigami floating behind him; the one who had spoken to both Rukia and her - well, he probably wouldn't know it was her, considering the fact that she had been in her most beloved feline form back then.

Watching as the boy helped Rangiku regain her composure, Yoruichi couldn't help but be rather bemused at the entire situation. If Hitsugaya were here, he'd probably burst a blood vessel at the sight of a mortal boy helping a shinigami - the Tenth Division Vice-Captain - get her bearings back.

In a casual tone, Yoruichi simply asked Light, never taking her eyes off the killer shinigami. "Are you familiar with this one, then?"

Rem watched with mild amusement as the ditsy-looking blonde woman began screaming. As another woman - this one more smart looking but dressed more eccentric than the first - came onto the scene and swore upon seeing Rem, Rem began to feel a little annoyed. While shinigami didn't usually comment on how one another looked since it was common courtesy, humans didn't really seem to grasp politeness, instead opting for a more rude approach; usually screaming, pointing, swearing, staring... Really, she didn't look that bad, did she? Not that Rem cared, of course, but maybe if she looked more like how the so-called "Death Gods" that humans made up, things would be better.

Then again, they'd still freak out.

Turning to the smart-dressed teenager, Rem answered what had originally been directed at the two women.

"I have no reason to hurt you," Rem said, lowering herself so she was at more eye-level with the trio. Watching the three, Rem simply blinked at them, idly noticing the looks that the three humans were getting, simply standing there and gawking at her. Serves them right for making a scene, Rem thought. Nevermind the fact that Rem couldn't really hurt them either - if she touched them, she'd just go through. She could, however, kill them. But she really didn't have a reason too, like she had said in the first place. She had plenty of life in her still - she didn't need to kill anyone just yet.

"It won't?" she felt herself relived. Yet at the same time she felt herself embarrassed by her reaction. She'd seen hollows that made the thing before her appear as a supermodel by comparison. But this thing before her wasn't a hollow and more disturbingly Yoruichi knew what it was. The boy seemed to know what it was as well.

Now she felt completely out of the loop.

That annoyed her.

She hated not knowing things she should! It made her feel like a stupid student at the academy who still needed Gin's protection.

The memory made her angry. As she stood and regained her composure, she extricated herself from the teenager's hold perhaps a little harder than she'd intended to. Righting her Karakura High uniform, she dusted off her skirt and shifted the shirt so it fit her as properly in its impropriety, she fixed her hands on her hips and glared at everyone. "What the hell is going on here. And make it fast. I'm late for school. I think Uryuu tried to ditch me."

Looking from the one in orange to the one in a huff, Light blinked. It was apparent that these two knew each other somehow. Opting to ignore the huffy blonde at the moment, Light fixed his eyes on the one in the jumpsuit. Did he know this one as well...?

There was only one other person who had seen Ryuuk, and this person definitely wasn't her. That left...

"You're that cat, aren't you?" he said, his skepticism with the paranormal fast disappearing with all the new things going on. "No, I don't know this one, but I can still recognize what it is. How is it that you can too?"

Subtly trying to guide them away from the center of the street toward a nearby parking lot, Light debated what he knew. If these two could see shinigami as well, there had to be some special power they possessed. Maybe even something greater than what he had with the Death Note.

And if that was the case, he wanted to be part of it as well.
