So looking at my last post, I feel the need to inform you all that I did, in fact, paint my nails. They are purple and currently are still in pretty decent shape even though it's been over a week. I know you all totally care. Anyway.
Tuesday morning my family and I headed out to Pismo Beach, which is along the Central California coast. It's actually a really tiny tourist town with...not really a boardwalk per say, but a couple of blocks of touristy shops and restaurants and such. We walked pretty far down the beach on Tuesday evening (the beach was a 5-minute walk from our hotel ♥), and ahhhhh it was so nice. I kind of passionately love the beach~ But since the highs in Pismo were not even 70 the whole time we were there, I was kind of freezing in my shorts and t-shirt by the time the sun started going down, haha. We ate dinner at this fantastic little place with award-winning clam chowder and their sourdough bread bowls were AMAZING and I was so full.
On Wednesday we went to Hearst Castle, which isn't actually a castle but rather William Randolph Hearst's "ranch," and oh my GOSH that place was amazing. It's a huge mansion with freaking bell towers and there are a bunch of guest houses too, and he had all kinds of art imported from Europe, especially from France and Spain, but he even had some original ancient Greek (or Roman?) columns in the gorgeous Neptune Pool which is the most amazing swimming pool I've ever seen, lots of sculptures and tapestries and stuff that are hundreds of years old, and the oldest piece of art there, an ancient Egyptian statue that's 3,500 years old. It was a really, really fascinating place, especially if you have even the slightest interest in history, art, architecture, or really anything that falls under the category of humanities. Anyway, after that we went back to Pismo and had dinner on the beach while the sun was going down. So gorgeous, omg.
And then on Thursday we went to Solvang, which is a Danish-themed tourist town about an hour away from where we were, and it was pretty fun! I love touristy stuff, so I was having all kinds of good times checking out the different shops with my brother. We found a pretty cool book store, a whole bunch of toy stores (oh gosh there was this stuffed dragon I wanted so bad), a Del Sol which is a store that sells a bunch of stuff that changes colors in the sun (I bought a freaking expensive but awesome bottle of nail polish and my brother got me a pirate medallion necklace that changes from silver to gold in the sun and is AWESOME AND NOT NERDY AT ALL OKAY), and like fifty billion candy stores that of course we had to hit up. We ate lunch at a Danish restaurant, where my mom, my dad, and I all got a combination plate with a meatball, sausage, and mashed potatoes (so good, especially the meatball), and my brother got a lamb shank, which he was very excited about, lol. We went back to Pismo after that and spent our late afternoon/early evening at the beach, attempting to build a sand castle (the tide was coming in so we had to start over twice XDDD), and I managed to get my dad and brother to frolick out in the waves with me, which was pretty freaking awesome. Did I mention that I love the ocean? We went back to the hotel after that to warm up by swimming in the hotel's pool (oh my gosh I was freezing, remember earlier when I said that the highs didn't even hit 70 while we were there?), took showers, ate in our hotel room, and then went out and got ice cream. Ahhhh what a nice day~ Also, my brother and I took advantage of having cable (which we do not have at home) to watch Whose Line Is It Anyway ever night on ABC Family. I love that show so freaking much. Oh Drew Carey, I miss the days when you were funny, before you started hosting The Price Is Right. :/
So anyway, we headed home on Friday, still with tons of candy that we bought at various tourist shops, lol. We got home around 2, maybe, and I unpacked, went online for a little bit, took a nap, took a shower, and headed to church for the junior high overnighter, which was pretty awesome. We started out at Golfland, which also has a water park, but we just did pizza, the arcade, go carts, and mini golf. Unfortunately we only had two hours there so it was all kind of rushed. We didn't get much time at the arcade or the mini golf, but the go carts were super fun! It was kinda cool too because while we were waiting for the go carts, I got to know some of the kids I either hadn't talked to much or had never met before. After that, we went to Country Club Lanes for an hour of bowling (which I suck at so much lol), and over two hours of laser tag (which is like...way longer than necessary lol). It was after 3am when we left there, so most of us adults were kinda feeling done by then, haha. We got back to church, played a few games (us adults were such zombies lol), watched Up (I sort of dozed off a little at this point), and then the kids got picked up at 7am. A fun, successful overnighter!
At this point, it's Saturday morning, so I go home briefly to change and get my act together before heading back to church for the young adults rafting trip. I didn't feel so much tired as...sort of zoned out? But once we were on the road to the river and Yuri, who was riding shotgun while I was driving, I was feeling pretty normal, and once we got to the raft rental place, I was excited! It was really different from when I went white water rafting last year at Rock'n Water (the high school camp), since we mostly just drifted downstream and there was only one decent rapid, really, but it was pretty chill and lots of fun people came and we just kind of ate snacks and talked and messed around and the guys kept fighting and pulling each other out of the raft and except for the brief period where my stomach started hurting I had a great time. :D It was shorter than we expected though, and I think we all wished it lasted longer. We had Subway for lunch at a park right by where we returned the rafts and hung out there for a while before heading home. And then, because I am insane and for some reason that I cannot comprehend was not feeling sleepy, after taking a shower and hanging out at home for a little bit, Yuri and I went to see Salt, which was a pretty awesome movie. And then I finally went home and went to bed early, lol.
And now my life is more or less back to normal, which is kind of nice after all the crazy stuff I did last week. Let me take a moment to mention, however, that I have (sort of) been watching dramas and I kind of adore NatsuNiji. As much as I love Matsujun, his acting is really not stellar (and his character is so whiny and I kind of want to punch him in the face sometimes), but he really makes up for it by being ridiculously attractive. Just sayin. His hair is basically perfect right now. ♥ And the main girl whose name I don't remember is wonderful and her character is great, and the little girl is so cute and I basically loved everything about episode 2. It's not the most original drama in the world, but it makes me smile and I really like it. :D Other than that...I plan to watch some Mioka tonight, and I also have dl'ed some Nihonjin no Shiranai Nihongo so we'll see how that is. Any other dramas I should be watching, guys?
