Virtual Console a bit of a let down

Maybe my expectations are a bit out of whack, last week I downloaded Mario Kart 64 on my Wii. It was my first Virtual Console game download. I was so disappointed. I felt like someone took $10 from my wallet and stole it. I loved Mario Kart 64, at least, I remember I used to love it. Maybe it was the fact that it cost me $10 dollars for something I ( Read more... )

If it's the first Streets of Rage, you might feel slight disappointment, since I didn't like it as much after the second one came out (the best one in the series IMO). It's still a blast if you have someone to play with though

Yeah Mario Kart 64 hasn't aged too well. It's still fun, but not in the "OMG Mario Kart :D!" way it used to be. You probably would have been better off getting the original Mario Kart, if it's available for VC.

Still no Wii for me :(

Yeah, I recall how awesome Streets of Rage 2 was as well. I loved both of the games and the second blew the first one away. But I think I would love playing both almost equally now. Like you said, its a blast as a multi-player game, but single player? Maybe not so much.

As for MK64, do you think I would like it better multi-player? I know I used to love MK64 as a multi-player game also.

I think RPGs might be the best type of VC game.

It probably would be. Even the newer Mario Karts, DS and Double Dash, are only ok by themselves. It's only really fun when you can scream at your friends "OMG you blue shelled me you faggot! :D" Plus the computer plays like ass and cheats to keep up at the last second.

Yeah, the old school RPGs would probably be best. I just got Final Fantasy VI advance, and I popped it into the GBA player on the cube. I felt like I was 15 again, sitting in front of my little 13" TV and SNES back in 1994, Dr. Dre playing on the radio.

I got Streets of Rage. Its great, a bit short, but amazingly fun with another player. Part 2 is definitely the superior Streets of Rage though...

Yeah but I would need to run a component cable to my TV and that might look kinda gross.

Any idea how I can mod my PSP to play homebrew stuff?
