Long time no see.
Just wanted to let you know that I got PuzzleQuest based on your recomendation. The games pretty fun, but the puzzle game is suspect to random dumb luck. I haven't played it enough to see what other spells are available. Maybe higher level spells allow you destroy specfic blocks where once can setup specfic combos.

But yeah, there is a lot of depth to the game. Certain spells let you break certain mana, do more damage, inflict poison, increase your rage and so forth. There is a lot of depth there, but yeah in the end it does have a lot to do with luck.
You can also have people join your party which give you more effects and you can learn magic by beating monsters 3+ times then capturing them. Then there are also mounts.
I recommend you fight each monster in the single player specific menu (start out with the lighter guys) until you beat each 3 times. Then when you go into the game you can capture them the first time you meet them thus letting you learn their spells faster.
;)
Let me know whats up.
