Things like this decision by the Portland school board make me feel that there is sense left in the world.

what of Balzac's are you reading? I took a course dedicated to him last winter, and loved it!

Sarrasine -- it's a nouvelle, and the first complete Balzac I've ever read. Oh yes -- you speak the French! ...can I make you look over my compositions for grammar? ^_^;;
