Update: Hurricane Alex

*satellite blush* Ahem. Well it appears that my predictions were far off- you can't expect a satellite to be perfect.

Hurricane Alex is now a category 2 hurricane with its eye about 40 miles SSE of Cape Hatteras, NC. Its sustained winds are at 100 mph and its barometric pressure is 972 mb. He's moving NE at around 15 mph.

Sweetie, there's a reason we keep all those scientists on the payroll. You are a very, very smart girl. BUT... even if we count all the time you were awake before launch, you're still not even five years old. Your capabilities are optimized to get fast and accurate weather data, and you do that as well as or better than any other weather satellite in orbit right now. Nobody expects you to be an analytical expert too.

Besides, hurricanes are very hard to predict. There are people who've been trying for decades, and who still miss the call sometimes.
