Warning: For length and this is a rambling fan gurl review. *is still on cloud 9*
It was pouring rain all day in NYC and for the Today Show summer concert series New Kids On The Block performed. I was in the VIP section, 2nd row from the stage! First, the guys did a sound check, they were having so much fun playing up to the crowd, but there were obvious tech problems. After that was over, Joey McIntyre told us to pretend we hadn't just seen them, hehe.
Then it was show time, It was so exciting. I'm still deaf from all of the screams. Oh and I kinda lost my voice too. OMG OMG they are so freaking hot! In person, they look so much better, even Danny Wood.. who asked me if I was soaked lol. Donnie Wahlberg loves to get the crowd screaming, he's such a tease! He gave shout outs to some girls in the front row, he seemed very humbled. And he looks so good in person too. Joe McIntyre is just so pretty. Seriously, tv & pictures does nothing for these guys, they are hot. Joey was his usual energetic self sliding around and being a dork. Jordan Jordan Jordan... my goodness, I was never a Jordan Knight girl, but I always acknowledged he was the hottest guy back in the day. I'm ashamed to say I thought he kind of lost his looks. Well that was stupid of me. He is absolutely beautiful. I really couldn't believe how gorgeous he looked. He was so animated sliding across the wet stage and smiling while giving the crowd what they wanted. He looked right at people who called out his name. :) And my favorite, Jonathan Knight... that man is such a sweetie, he looked nervous during sound check. At one point he got teary :( but when the rain started coming down on us he shook his head in a "this sucks for these people" way and came over and handed us towels :))) I think an ant was in his sneaker bc he started jumping around wildly and took off his sock. During the show, he was smiling and looked so happy! I heart Jon. He's a lot more thinner in person. Honestly, all the guys look in great shape. I tried to take as many pics as I could.
We were loud singing along to Please Don't Go Girl. It poured all day, then stopped exactly when Tonight started, even the sun peaked out! Oh my god, I've never experienced anything like that. When Jordan was on the piano playing Tonight he looked right at us :) The crowd was so loud and clear. I'm not a crier when it comes to meeting celebs or during songs, but Tonight made me cry. It was very moving. I looked over to the girl next to me and she was crying too. We both laughed a little at our crying. Everyone was really touched during that song, even Joey's father cried and that made us more emotional. The guys were obviously touched. When it was over and I stopped crying lol, they went around the audience slapping hands.. I got Danny and Donnie's :) Jon came close to me but then went over to the other side. oh well, next time Jon! :D They thanked us for coming out in the rain. There was a meet and greet later at Macy's Herald Square, but I decided not to go. I was tired as hell and I already have VIP tickets to see them during their tour in NY, I'll get up close and meet them in September.
Overall, a memorable performance. I'm so glad I went and met a lot of nice ladies from the boards. For the first time, I got to see my Jon and the rest of the guys after loving them since I was 4 years old back in 1989. Can't wait for the next show!
