Mikey got it right, sharing, and absorbing, perspectives is one of the greatest things to be involved in. To acknowledge that our beliefs are simply just that and to be open to new interprtations is pure beauty.

To build on what you said about beliefs becoming facts, I think why our beliefs are hard to budge is that they become abstract embodiments of who we are, and therefore a questioned belief becomes a question of self. Because of this attachment between belief and self, any other perspective contradicting our own is threatening for it unveils the fact that nothing is permanent or concrete, even ourselves. To many this is a fearful revelation that we try to avoid. Yet, I find something comforting in this void, it is the ground where creativity flourishes, where beauty springs, and where one can master this sea of change by simply sailing along its waves.

I was saying to someone a while ago that I'm very fortunate to perpetually be in this childlike, "student" mentality where my mind is always open to absorb new opinions and ideas from anyone I come into contact with. I think as soon as you've closed yourself off to that, you've really lost the plot. We're all definitely lucky to be surrounded by people who challenge us that way.

Also, Red Sox fans are assholes. Just check this out.
