I would say 'Carry the Zero' by Built to Spill, and I can't even really explain why - it's certainly one of the least complex and layered Built to Spill songs, but it inexplicably never gets old for me.

wh-wh-whaaaaat?
you need 'Keep it Like a Secret' - when I first heard it back in highschool I hated it - but it slowly became, and remains my favourite album of all time.

I definitely agree. "Straight to Hell" always puts me in some kind of trance that I'm very reluctant to come out of. But there have also been a number of occasions when I've listened to Radiohead's "How to Disappear Completely" on repeat. I'm sure there are more...

i haven't thrown on Kid A in what feels like years, just threw it on.....wow, very 'attached to a time' record for me, very nostalgic feeling...

i read an interview with T.Y. and he said the song is actually about the surreal-ness of performing to thousands of people.

I still remember when I heard some country band covering "Straight to Hell" at the Cameron House and I thought it was their own song. When Nicky and Faye showed up I was raving about this awesome band that just played this amazing song, until Nicky (who had heard the last strands of it outside before they came in) corrected me and told me it was a Clash tune. Thankfully you showed up later and missed me looking like a dumbass haha.

Also, in answer to your question...Neutral Milk Hotel's "Holland 1945" definitely comes to mind, as does Black Sabbath's "Hole In The Sky". Two sublimely perfect songs.

Also, Built to Spill is rad. Good call on that, Evan.

haha, i was unaware that whole incident happened so you just ratted yourself out on that one, lol.....i've heard you mention N.M.H. a bunch i should finally check them out - sometimes i'm hesitant to check out new bands cause if i get really into them i'll be forced to check out everything they've done and i don't have unlimited space/resources to keep doing this....

really stoked that you're in company for the lil trip down to buffalo. the photo you posted sent a little shiver. can. not. wait.

i agree with graham, neutral milk hotel is where it's at. holland, 1945 was my absolute favourite for a long time but honestly in the aeroplane over the sea is a great all around album. well worth checking out.(read: you must listen to this album!!!) and don't worry about getting too caught up in them, ty - they only have two albums.
